FSM's next release will be THE STRIPPER (1963) by Jerry Goldsmith, including cues from a TV show he did called NICK QUARRY.

hmm, "new vintage" is oxymoronic, isn't it? Of course I meant "new release of a vintage score." (I'm sure you knew that, but I'm a nit-picker.)

THE STRIPPER was previously released as a decent-sounding bootleg, coupled with twenty-odd minutes from THE TRAVELING EXECUTIONER. For the reason of the latter score, I guess I'll hang on to the boot.

THE STRIPPER includes a lot of stuff not available on the boot, though much of it is non-Goldsmith source music.

I'd post a link, but the K might BAN me!

NP: TORA TORA TORA (by the same guy, from the same company!)

Yeah, saw this on the FSM site earlier but as usual I've been momentarily BANNED!

It's good to see a non western Goldsmith release, but to be honest I wish they could concentrate on something other than yet another Mr. G release, unless it was a List Of Adrian Messenger or The Satan Bug, I'm just not sure whether I'll bother with this?!

Al, what are friends for? How about that Britney Spears, huh?

Timmer, must I remind you that any kind of vintage Goldsmith is worth having? Of course you should bother with this!

    NP- L.A. Confidential (guess who!)

Of course, I purchased the Tsunami release of this a few weeks ago!

From the sound clips, the FSM version seems to have superior sound quality.

    NP: Survivor II

For anyone who may be thinking twice about whether to get this vintage Goldsmith, I'd say DON'T ( don't think twice I mean, which means GET IT! Get it?). I've got the Tsunami release and it has always struck me as being one of Mr G's most underrated scores, in fact much closer to Alex North's steamy hot-house melodramas than anything done since by Goldsmith (they say that in the FSM blurb too, but I said it FIRST, right here, when The Stripper was mentioned by someone!)

I notice that the underscore to the new release, not counting the songs, lasts about the same as the Tsunami effort, so they may cover the same ground. It would be a shame if sales of FSM's new one get influenced by people like me who have the boot and won't be making a purchase just yet.

Oh, go on, get it anyway, and PLACE YOUR ORDERS FOR BENEATH THE 12-MILE REEF WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!

No more comments here? I'm quite surprised: I thought this would be something to make a bloody good song and dance about!

Graham, what are you talkn' about? We've been singing and dancing this entire time. What are you doing here? Didn't you get an invitation to the party?

I've got something to add to this one

Lukas posted the release of THE STRIPPER on Filmus a week or so ago, and followed it up with a comment about the sound quality....said the sound is so good on theirs as opposed to the Tsunami, that there is a cue(FSM vers.)where a bit of studio noise was audible(sounded like Thump-Swish IIRC).
They played the same cue on the Tsunami, and the noise was greatly amplified(to THUMP-SUWISH!)....

My question is, what cue is this reffering to? I know I could replay my Tsunami STRIPPER,just haven't had time! Anyone know of audible studio noise on the STRIPPER CD? Will we ever stop being fascinated by useless minutia?
It doesn't matter anyway, since I have to have both for their accompanying scores!

Unless someone gets around to finding the tapes for THE TRAVELLING EXECUTIONER....underrated score! I love it,sounds like The Flim Flam Lillies of the Wild Rovers

    Sean

I'll definitely pick this one up eventually. But... higher on my FSM want list are Omega Man, Prince Valiant, and Tora Tora Tora.
