I just said I would never appear here again because of the banning of Shaun Rutherford, but will break the rule (just seconds later) because this is an equally visible means of my saying the same thing.Once again: Saraba (archaic Japanese version of "sayonara")
I love you all the same and we'll stay friends, but this is just too much. See you at other boards.

Hopefully this is a place to call home in certain respects. Lottsa people have fun at home, and Shaun Rutherford has decided to start his own game of hide and seek:Shaun asked me to banish him, to provide him the necessary strength to NOT post on these boards until he has something better to post about!

Shaun ASKED to be banished? That doesn't really correspond to your post on the other thread.... you might want to try again when you get your story straight....Dan

Dan, give it a rest.Shaun asked me to banish him, to provide him the necessary strength to NOT post on these boards until he has something better to post about! His recent involvement in the "big bad thread" (which is still accessible, just not from the topics display page) convinced him he was wasting time on certain subjects and wanted all temptation removed. Thus, a voluntary banishment.
I approve of this unique form of humility, and wish it on all of us, including me, when we get off the subject and onto each other as we have in recent days. Shaun, we'll see you when you've got somethin' good to say; thanks for setting a good example.

What?
Shaun was banned?
Why?
Because he asked? Please, give me a f.ucking break!
What's wrong with nerds who runs websites??
Do they all think they are God or something?I think it's time for me to leave too.
Too sad, because at one point I really liked this board and most of the people who post here. But nowadays I was relly getting tired with Peter Kelly's undefendable rudeness and boring self-importance attitudes.
In my opinion, people who lose their precious life time censoring message board threads and banning people who don't agree with them should look for a brain surgeon! And people like him use to bash Ford Thaxton. They may be right, but at least Thaxton helped lots of unreleased score to see the light of day, while these nerds are just spanking their monkeys in front of a monitor in love with themselves...
Please, ban me too mrs. Goofy!
And I demand that my profile (togheter with my picutre) to be deleted also.André Lux, signing off

I can't wait until Shaun wants to be "unbanned" so he can explain it all. Then again, he may not give a Hootie, because after all, this is just a message board. Until then, I am FunFa goof!A FishChip is a favorite food among food connoisseurs.

Unless I'm near-sighted and just don't see it, no sooner do I post a fair alternative to Pete's 3 rules than the whole topic just disappears. Not just locked. Gone so no one can even see what I suggested. So, I'm taking a sabbatical. That could mean being gone for a few days, hopefully gone for good. It's a shame because I like the people here and it kills a lot of time for me at work to post here (I guess I take up reading again).
Nearly everyone here has been wonderful in some way or another, a really great bunch of film music enthusiasts. I wish all of you great times and growing collections.
Maybe we'll see each other again at a site that allows for more freedom.

I have a proposal. If anyone wants to discuss the rules for this place, I will create a private, password-protected forum for this. By doing so, those who want to participate in such a discussion may, those who still come here to talk about movie music (bless you!) can avoid such a discussion and not see it listed anywhere.Or we can do it by an unmoderated email list.
Let me know what you think.

Is it just me...or did this board just lose 4 members...Andre...don't go...I'll miss the banter! (no sarcasm intended)As the old cliche goes...it takes two to tango...I feel the members are overreacting just a tad, and Mr. K might a be a slight dictatorial...but in the end, what really matters is we have a fun and intellectual time discussing film music. End of story.
I know I haven't been here long...but please come back...we've got such a great year in film musis ahead of us...it would be a shame for any long-standing member's voice to not be heard.

I somehow doubt that people exiting the board en mass as a show of support for Shaun, but that's just my OPINION.I do wonder, though, why you deleted the thread Peter.... assuming you deleted it, of course... and it wasn't just a software glitch or something to prevent it from showing up on the topic list.

Sorry to leave all the great people here, maybe some of you'll take an occasional look at the FSM board - No, I'm not asking ANYBODY to LEAVE this board, just in case this gets misinterpreted. I'd only like to continue the film music discussions with the friends I found here.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?We've got board members dropping like flies, message board topics vanishing, and the moderater claims to be banning HIMSELF.
All the threads that offer anything by way of explanation have vanished.
All the members involved have similarly vanished.
All common sense seems to have vanished some time ago.
Somebody want to explain what I missed and how the heck this could happen in less than twelve hours?NP: London Sessions Vol. 3, Delerue ****

Just as many animals cannot breed well in captivity, it also appears that human thought and expression do poorly in a censored environment.Peter K is a good man, and he has all the best of intentions. I can totally see what he wants of this board, and how good it would be. And in a private forum, content control is "perfectly legal."
But people want to speak freely, and they become unhappy when there are impediments.
Maybe some kind of gentler guidance to stay "on topic" would be workable, letting whatever's been said "stay said." I don't know.

I absolutely meant what I said before, but on balance, and after "conversations" with Jeron, the K and internationally notoriously glamorous superstar Shaun Rutherford himself, I am back. This has been a most peculiar contretemps, and even a rather entertaining one. But it's not, as it turns out, a deal-breaker. Water under the bridge, gentlemen and the occasional lady? All families fight at one time or another, and however peculiarly so, this board IS a family of a sort. (No one asked me to write this, I have simply decided that too many decent people are probably being weirded out for no good reason.)Virtual handshakes all around, awright? JJH, Marian, Lou, Andre, come on back home. Please?

Interesting. This is the first time since Christmas I actually happen to have the time to stop by and check this board, and this is the very first thread I read. I have no idea what the heck is going on but I sure don't like it. What's with all this "banning" and "leaving" and "let's create private password protected threads so that officially nobody who is not interested in these off topic rants will have to read this and inofficially any critical threads can be removed without further notice"?

In any case, I can only say that I stand -- no surprise - with JJH, H Rocco, Shaun, Dan, Andre, Lou, Marian, and presumably of course with Chris (who has not even posted in this thread. What the hell is going on?) Too bad, I was just looking forward to snoop and post around a little, but this is not really what I came back for. Many articulate, witty, and insightful people frequent this board, but if this all is what it seems to be and everybody has to ensure that the word "film score" appears at least three times in every single posting I don't think I care to stick around here much longer either.

Nicolai, this really isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. Hell, I'm still hanging around. That must count for something (either that, or it invalidate my character). In my opinion, I think everyone should take an extended break from the board and come back when the momentum of this thing has ceased.Jeron

The question is, are we "content providers" for a film music website, or people who love film music and come here to talk to each other? There has to be some topicality to what we say, and yet it can't be a requirement (without having it seem like we work here).
It's a conundrum.
And speaking of conundrum, I got the theme of the UPN series SEVEN DAYS from Napster. It's fantastic. It includes the narration, which music purists will dislike, but to me it's a very exciting mix. Composed by Scott Gilman.

Jeron, your upbeat attitude is -- as always -- refreshing, especially among all the bickering, but I actually just came back from a month long hiatus.
A break will not solve these problems, at best it will just make (some) people forget them until the next time they bubble up to the surface. Now is as good a time as any to discuss these things.[Message edited by Nicolai P. Zwar on 01-22-2001]
