I've read the reviews on websites, which seem to be half positive/half negative. After much debating with myself, I finally just ordered this promo from Screen Archives and am waiting for it to come in so I can form my opinion. Does anyone have any thoughts about this score?(A simple 'yes' will not suffice as an answer.)

But having heard some other stuff by Talgorn, the reviews make a lot of sense. There's usually a lot of good stuff in his music. But no memorable material like Williams or Goldsmith might compose.
Until now I have still to find a score which is so good it would justify buying it. But still, a composer to watch for in the future.posted 03-11-2001 01:08 PM PT (US)

It's an alright score. Talgorn did a servicable job. I find myself enjoying his score from "Fortress" a lot more. Sure, "Heavy Metal 2000" features 2 or 3 great cues, but as Wistiti said (unfortunately), nothing memorable...Regardless, Talgorn is definitely a talent.

I disagree. I have enjoyed this score a great deal. And I think it can stand its ground against STARS WARS and STAR TREK. It is just a bit of a different approach.NP--Decline and Fall of a Birdwatcher

Well, mgh - it has it's merits, don't get me wrong. There are a couple tracks that definitely stand out! But as a whole, it doesn't strike me as anything that could hold it's own against any one of the Star Trek or Star Wars scores.Keep in mind, that's just my opinion.

Yes, while it's agreed that Talgorn has talent, comparing it to such staples of the industry as any music from either of the Star* series is probably pushing it just a little

Well, not really. All of this is just a matter of taste and opinion.
Jeron and Probable, I do not question your taste or opinion; I just happen to disagree with you.NP-Big Valley
