How come nobody's talking about this??
This has got to be one of the most beautiful, touching, dramatic scores since Morricone's rejected What Dreams May Come. The music is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!!(okay John, calm down here... deep breaths...)
Okay, Jarre’s main theme, a half-sad, half-uplifting little melody, is excellent. The theme builds throughout the first track, with an especially powerful rendition about three quarters of the way through, but it somehow doesn’t lose the tender quality of the quieter versions. There are a couple of secondary themes, the best of which is only in track three. It’s sort of a military march (the tracks is called “War and Misery” and that pretty much describes it). Tracks five and six are pretty subdued, but track seven closes the album with a beautiful choral version of the main theme.
This is certainly one of the best score of the year. Trust me, it’s well worth your money, and… Ah, just go buy it! *****NP: Sunshine, Maurice Jarre *****

Because the man is down to keep Jarre beat,John! lol
I've been in love with his music since the mid 80's, and many people seem to dismiss his scores frequently.
I don't have this one yet, but I'm working on it...I DREAMED OF AFRICA is good, but not really as great as his other, similar works.
If you don't like electronics, you will probably hate Jarre, but I feel he fuses orchestra and synths beautifully...ditto his electrochamber scores like NO WAY OUT,AFTER DARK MY SWEET,JULIA AND JULIA.Sweet!

Sunshine--Pretty and pretty wonderful. I LOVE Jarre, but he doesn't seem to fit the tastes of a lot of people [Lou shrugs]. Well, I'm glad he's out there getting work anyway and I'll defend his filmography to anyone any day.
