Didn't she sing in The Omen? I wouldn't surprise me if it is her! I'll go compare and see.

What's less well known is that Carol Heather actually has been ghostwriting Goldsmith's music for years. After scoring WARLOCK, in which the evil warlock is after a Satanic bible that will help him take over the world, Goldsmith developed a phobia about touching paper with his bare hands, fearing even a blank page might be inherently evil (he was also remembering ALIEN, in which the alien could be living secretly within anyone.) Thus, their collaboration consists of Goldsmith whistling, or merely muttering, musical ideas to his wife, who then expands them on paper, before the whole thing is sent out to the orchestrator(s).

You ask me how he gets through his concerts? It's easy: the score sheets are printed on normal paper, but then each page is encased in a thin but super-strong plastic alloy. (He also wears transparent gloves as an added precaution, in case some of the paper should accidentally escape from the alloy.

It's tough to be a genius!

    LOOOL!

I didn't even SEE you at Timmer's Christmas party - you must have gone directly to the beer in the fridge without saying "Hello"...

Your H', quit the yakking an git yerself to d'party!

p.s. It's well known within certain circles that Mr.Goldsmith is nought more than an animatronic puppet (courtesy of Stan Winston) at most of his 'so called' live concerts!

Listening to TOTAL RECALL DELUXE tonight, for the first time, the obvious quote of CONAN THE BARBARIAN (and arguable quote of Brad Fiedel's original TERMINATOR) in Goldsmith's main theme went by me ... and I'd swear that in the first brass notes, what I was actually hearing was a distortion of (tympani rumble, please ... ) "Also Sprach Zarathustra!"

Thoughts? Comments? Am I merely insane? (You all know I'm insane, but I mean is that ALL I am?)

Maybe Carol couldn't think of anything else ...? (Seriously, sound the themes out in your head, and try and tell me they're not similar.)

    YOU ARE RIGHT....

Yesterday I was playing 'Betrayal' from Under Fire when a friend called around, the first thing he asked was "is this music from The X-Files"

p.s. still haven't seen you at the party yet...your slacking H'

HRocco, if I am not mistaken, I read somewhere that the opening portion of Total Recall that sounds like Conan the Barbarian was intentional. Apparently, Goldsmith admired Poledouris' score for Conan (who doesn't?) and when he got his Arnie movie, he paid hommage.
