Ok, I keep hearing these reports that some band named "Ministry" will do the soundtrack for "A.I."

What the hell...Where is John Williams, i know in the teaser trailer it says "Music By: John Williams"

So what does all this mean? Someone out there help me out? I mean, I am hoping that this score will be the next "E.T."

You saw that on Dark Horizons, too, huh? I thought that was some flat-out BS rumouring right there. No question in my mind that if that were the case, they would be providing a song- Spielberg rarely works outisde of Williams on projects. The only two times he has worked with others score wise following their first collaboration with Jaws (I think)
was "The Color Purple", music by Quincy Jones (rightly so), and "Twilight Zone: The Movie", with Jerry Goldsmith- which does technically count by virtue of the fact that Spielberg directed one of that movie's four segments.

My humble advice, Kyp, as a friend, is to keep from expecting the film and score to be anything like E.T. Of course, that will happen with everybody sooner or later- that was my initial inclination, too- but everytime I set up an expectation for a movie, I run the risk of being extremely dissatisfied, mildly entertained, or ecstatic. E.T. set a standard no film that tries to match can ever live up to.

John Williams is doing the score but from what I understand Ministry will contibute some songs that are directly involved with the movie. My only fear is that their songs will subtract from having more of Williams music on the cd.

I'm sure this film will turn out to be yet another Spielberg classic, but the teaser I saw in the theatres looked ridiculous... People were actually laughing at it's stupidness. To me, it looked like the next Star Kid or some other cheap kids movie. I wasn't sure what it was actually until I saw Spielberg's name, and I was relieved. I did see Williams name as well, and I really hope that NO songs are going to be on the album or, more importantly, the film... Who knows we'll just have to wait and see. By the way, when in 2001 is this due?

Actually it was since Sugarland Express, but who is really counting...

was "The Color Purple", music by Quincy Jones (rightly so)

I would really be interested in while you think this was rightly so...
