    HHHEEEELLLLOOOO!

Well, I'm here talking to Jeff (he has SNOW J) and waiting for my Final Fantasy Ix OST import sssooooo, I was web surfing and happen to go to the "Cast Away" site. It's not fully launched and the music in the background is from the film, and its GREAT, I love it. I hope the Varese release will have the full 20 min of score that was composed for the film (that’s what I heard, but I am hoping there is more)

    Anyway, on out, cya

I saw the film on Monday, and while I don't know how much music was composed for the film(I'll be sure to ask Silvestri), there seemed to be only about 11 minutes of actual score in the film....

Great theme, though I wish there was more to it!

    Kyp,

Just checked Varese Sarabande, to lend credence to the info you posted- not that you need me to, but-

Varese is preparing a disc that will feature not only the entire score for Cast Away, but Excerpts from
the Back To The Future Trilogy,
    Romancing The Stone (!)
    Contact
    Forrest Gump
    Who Framed Roger Rabbit
    What Lies Beneath
    Death Becomes Her

As I love Silvestri's music but can only take certain score for a certain length of time, and as six of the seven scores listed above are not in my posession (and would prefer a compilation like this), I would certainly seek to add this to my stockpile.
(I also wouldn't mind just having the Gump score, but the rest are eiether too short for the money or unavailable)

this is one of those instances where I wish
a composer would write a tone poem or something similar based on his ideas for the film. it's be great. actually, I wish every composer would.

Sounds like the Silvestri "Voyages" disc that Varese released in '95... with Cast Away as the primary selling point.

While that would be nice, the compilation only features Silvestri's work on Robert Zemeckis films (I wonder how he would've done "Predator"? Just a thought.)

With only subtle differences, Predator 2 is essentially the same score- but considering I don't have the first score- that may be something of a unfair statement to make. I have heard the score for the sequel and tried to compare it to the score as heard in the first movie. Simply put- the melancholy miltary horn piece which mirrors "Taps" is almost exactly the same. In fact, this has got me in the modd to buy Predator 2, if I can find it.
