For all of my fellow Godzilla fans check out this link for 45 sec soundclips of the new Godzilla film. There are 3 clips available with the red & blue audio icons next to them. Text is Japanese but it has a picture of the CD cover, done in the same style as G 2000 but from what I heard the music is greatly improved and sounds pretty good IMHO of course.

I checked 'em out a day or so ago, Mark; should've let you know (or at least said Thank You!) before now.

From what can be heard, I am interested - this at least sounds better than GODZILLA 2000, which was bland when it was not bad.

    Thanks, man.

Mark and Mark, I'm new to the Japanese "Godzilla" music scene, so I can't compare to previous entries. But from the sound clips available, this one sounds pretty darn good. The theme heard in the last two clips is especially nice. I detect a little David Arnold in there...

PS - They went with a woman to compose the score this time, correct? I remember reading something like that when browsing through you guys' Godzilla chats.

Jeron, yes they went to a female composer this time. Her name escapes and I'm to lazy to go find it.

There is alot of great music from the Godzilla films Jeron, hopefully you will be able to ad some to your soundtrack library.

Thanks Mark, I just wanted to make sure people saw this post, because there has been quite a few added in the last two days.

The composer is Michiru Oshima. I am wiser not to attempt to download the clips on a library computer (my home model SHOULD be back in action sometime in the coming week.)

This one actually looks like an interesting movie, based on the synopsis I read. We'll see.

This is an old thread, I realize, but I recently listened to selection from this score online and was really impressed. She did a great job, it's a very engaging score!

My question is that the only GODZILLA score I own is the David Arnold promo. So, for all the real GODZILLA score fans out there, what would be the ideal way to explore the music for this long-running series? Do I start with the compilations from GNP Crescendo?

I don't know, Frank... but I just got the new cd (yesterday!) and am loving it! I wouldn't be surprised if Megaguirus was temped with some of Arnold's score from the US film. It's thematically rich, and anyone who enjoys good sci-fi action music would love Ohshima's score.

    Frank,

Definitely try the two GNP compilations, and you'll get a super-dose of GODZILLA music. It's quite good and fun!

I had this CD for a couple of months now and I don't hear a shred of David Arnold's "Godzilla" score in Ohshima's music...It doesn't sound like "Tomorrow Never Dies" at all!

There's a nice review here with soundclips: http://www.cinemusic.net/reviews/2001/godzilla_vs_megaguirus.html
