Yeah, it's pretty good. The reviews here, written by many of the members of this board, are top-notch as well. There's a lot more cool stuff here, like the comics, that I like better too.

I visit Filmtracks and Moviemusic regularly. I prefer the filmtracks reviews, though, because they're written by one person, and I can generally tell where his tastes conincide with mine and where they differ. When you have a bunch of reviews by many people it's not as easy to put them in context.
Both sites are great, though!
(PS. Al, you like the comics? Little shameless plugging there?

On the other hand if the reviewer's tastes are consistently removed from your own then the reviews are pretty much worthless to you. I have found Christian's views to be in line with my own many times and there have been many other times that I've thought he totally missed the boat.I prefer a broader review base and, for me, the best scenario is to get separate pro and a con reviews by different people on any given score. I find that you get a more balanced impression that way.

John welcome to the site! Glad to have ya.I found Filmtracks when I first started looking for sites on the net, about 1993/1994. I like his updates and CD info, but his reviews bug me sometimes. But it happens.

Filmtracks is the site I'm usually at for soundtrack stuff. It's not always the fastest with the news or most pleasing with reviews, (that rhyme was not intended
) but the site itself has a great personality and that's what I love. I also like the message board format (not to mention the cool people there)....but I'm finding that this site isn't too bad either...

Thanks for the welcome JJ. This place seems a little crazier than the quiet and (usually) controled reparte' of the filmtracks scoreboard but I'm finding some fun people to argue...I mean, discuss things with
...plus, after being used to the peaceful blackness of Filmtracks, this white backround is hurting my eyes

BUT... JJ, you got that name wrong. The only composer who never wrote a bad score is BASIL POLEDOURIS.
To be perfectly honest, I've never heard a North score I liked, including the one I own (Spartacus).NP: Honor And Glory, Basil "never a bad score" Poledouris

John, you're just proving WHY you're a loser.he he...
that's okay. one day you will realize the utter importance of Alex North, and just why he never wrote a bad score.
on the other hand, Poledouris, wrote a couple I don't like:Big Wednesday and On Deadly Ground.

Also, I almost bought Ben Hur, but decided I didn't like any of the sound clips I've heard so I didn't.I rather like Kamen's X-Men score.
I also enjoy most Horner works, such as Jumanji and Pelican Brief, but I don't like Legends Of The Fall.
I don't really like Stargate.
I hate Superman.
I like Godzilla (the film).
I also like Red Planet (which people don't hate as much as Godzilla, but nobody really seems to like it).
One day, JJ, you will realize the truth.

hey!
how can you dis Ben-Hur?!
okay, I'll get over it, but still...
I also liked Red Planet. I thought it was an interesting film, beautifully shot, but with an utterly meaningless score (the CD rocks though, go figure).Stargate is great for the first half hour, flat for the next 20 minutes, and has a whopping final cue. I can take it or leave it.
I admit, I still haven't seen or heard X-Men. not even a soundclip.
JJ, who already realizes the truth!

Hi Brendan!!! Welcome to my world! (okay, it's not my world, but I'm here a lot more than at Filmtracks.) For those of you who don't know Brendan at Filmtracks, he's a really cute guy who knows a lot about composers & scores and is among the top 5 "stars" of the website. He is actually going to be married soon to a wonderful lady who also posts at Filmtracks (yes, she is one of the few women score-fans who participate in these message boards...maybe Brendan can get her to visit here too?).
The reason I call him a "star" of Filmtracks is that he's done about as many posts as our beloved Marian has here...yes, it's amazing, but true!!!Welcome again, sweetie!

Ha! And you people thought I didn't lurk here anymore
And yes, Galina, I have posted here a couple of times even though it feels kind of like a "beyondo" world for me.
And thank you for the "talking up"...all your information about me is correct except for your claim that I am cute...I must disagree. Heck, to get my fiance to say "yes" I had to buy a big ol' diamond ring and everything
I'd love to spend more time over here, but (contrary to what people seem to believe) my time is indeed limited and I never seem to be able to "do the rounds" at more than one messageboard. I do enjoy chatting with you fine MovieMusic folks on Monday nights though
. PeterK is a cool cat.
...and I'll still be lurking....

p.s. Hey Zimmer, who's your brother that posts at Filmtracks?
