'Ello all
I finally caved in and thought I'd pop over to this board, since the FSM board is a bit slow sometimes.
So technically...I'm new so play nice!

Anyway, I posted this there, but since no one will respond I thought I'd ask here...
I have a question for everyone here about this score....
Got the 27(!??!)Varese CD - actually about 24 minus the song(shudders).
I hear there is a 80-90 min boot out there, but never see anyone make mention of this score. So is the boot worth getting?
Or is the best stuff on Varese and the boot just another hour of droning suspense(which I would find hard to believe being Basil!).And if there is some kind sould out there who has track times and titles...post 'em up!
I know I'll never see the movie....who has time for this stuff, I still need to rent SWITCHBACK!
NP:Under Siege 2(BP) This IS like music for a Marine training video!
All the best,
Sean[Message edited by OHMSS76 on 11-21-2000]

I don't have it -- nor have I seen the film, but from those I know, that DO have it, all say it's great.posted 11-21-2000 11:54 AM PT (US)

I have the complete Under Seige 2. Although everyone posts it as a 2 disc set, there's only about 77 min. of music. 2 tracks are duplicates, and then there's 40 min. from Flesh & Blood. I put the complete score on one disc, then titled the tracks which are in chronological order. It is a great score.

Looks like the cue titles will be up tonight at FSM.
Ahhh..the good old fill out the CD to 2 discs scam.
Doncha love it to death!Memo To Composers:Stop writing so damn much music for these things!
Does 90mins of score REALLY help US2 that much?Ok...I'm just bitter about not having more

Them's the breaks!

yes, I'll try to post titles tonight. Again, mine won't exactly match the 2 cd set, but I'll post times also and those who have it can figure it out.

Oh yah?
(In Fargo NoDak accent)
O for competing film score boards
Tanks Lou....it's funny that I was thinking on the way to work today maybe we should have one giant ass board/email list for EVERYONE!
Its hard to keep track of all these boards...and then there's FILMUS-L....
Thanks Bulba
for the cue titles....Im just dying over here, drooling over all those unreleased action cues!!!

Talk about nostaligia....this was my first post here!Seems like quite some time ago, but I'm still glad I came....have met many good friends through this board

Anyway, I've been playing this one again all day(many thanks to John Dunham!) and something has been bugging me about this.
The boot adds an amazing 54mins. to the Varese album. But which cue on the boot(or more likely cues)make up The Gates of Hell/Penn's Wish 8:53 on the Varese? I just can't figure the math on which ones it would be!
Any ideas?
NP:Take a guess...
Thanks!

What a coincidence, I just received the Varese issue of UNDER SIEGE 2 in the mail yesterday! I've only listened to it once or twice, but it's decent. It has a little more energy than Basil's other Seagal score, ON DEADLY GROUND (though that has the better main theme, IMHO).
So, how is the rest of the score on the expanded edition, Sean? It seems like some of the action cues rely too much on drum machines to provide momentum (a la Zimmer & Co.) and not enough on the orchestra for this job. Am I being shortchanged with the Varese release?

Hey Brian!Talk about irony,eh?
Well, to be honest the Varese is probably the better listen...tighter,to the point, and the absolute best cues are there. If you want almost 80mins. of the aforementioned percussion, then this is it. It's very tiring, that boot.
The only real loss, for me, is that the Varese missed the :54 Train Departure. Awesome rush of brass emulating the train...it's my fave addition. Guess it depends on how much non stop action you want I guess!
On Deadly Ground is a softer album, only because Poledouris felt that side of his writing was underepresented on album. There is still a good 40mins. of action material missing, but I think the Varese plays quite nicely.

Thanks Sean! I've been on a Poledouris binge lately, finally picking up CHERRY 2000, BLUE LAGOON, CONAN THE DESTROYER, LES MISERABLES, and ROBOCOP, so I was just curious to know if there was another gem I might have missed!

How about that! So have I!Just got a ton of Poledouris' lately...
Switchback(awesome, but an album you have to really pay attention to)
Amerika(VERY dramatic, but excellent...no action here, just solid drama)
Cherry 2000(a friggin masterpiece!)
Iron Eagle/Return to the Blue Lagoon(solid, but bad sound)
Flight of the Intruder(Starship Troopers Jr., a major find)
Starship Troopers Compl.(the REAL deal is still on the way, but it's so nice to hear "Carmen's Shuttle Ride")Great stuff, a shame more of those aren't official releases

NP:Men Don't Leave(Newman) Another shame...this should have been issued, but instead it's another naked boot

I would hope I wouldn't be considered a newbie! I've spent enough damn time here!
Actually Timmer, I dug this post, my first on this board, out of the archives instead of just starting another to ask about this Under Siege 2 cue.
Thanks for the kind words though!
