    I'm back.........

Indeed, this might be a big Trek score, but "First Contact" and "Insurrection" were supposed to be big. "First Contact" is ok, but "Insurrection" was and still is a joke.

I agree that Insurrection movie is dull, and the GNP presentation of the score isn't good either, but the expanded boot is a good album.

Wow. You just don't give up, do you? Any more of this and I'll just have to "apparate" your HP gear to eBay.

    :-p

While I wasn't as "taken" with INSURRECTION as I was with FIRST CONTACT (musically), I found myself enjoying many parts of the score - both on the GNP and bootleg releases. But it's still one of Goldsmith's weaker Trek scores, admittedly.

Brian, I think we should install some of the anti-apparating stuff they have at Hogwarts.

I found the movie to be quite good (though of course not nearly as good as #2, #4, #6 or #8). I completely agree about the score though. Too much great stuff is missing from the official album in favor or repetitive action music.

NP: Ride With the Devil (Mychael Danna) - With thanks to Timmer!

This inevitable Romulan theme will be interesting. They're apparently going to give the Romulans a makeover like they did for the Borg in First Contact upgrading from the origonal TNG model (gag-). I suppose the music will greatly revolve around which direction the Romulans go in for this movie. I expect it will be fairly dark, but mostly more of an "Imperial" sort of sound. For some odd reason, Hymn to Red October keeps coming to mind. But that would be going too far-

    Pardon the interruption...but...

There are only two things that need to happen to make ST X a hit:

    1) A battle-laden ST film must have James Horner at the helm complete with four-note villain-motif signifying each entrance of our Romulun nemesis...nemesises...nemesese! There's just no substitute for that.

    2) The producers MUST find a way to insert that unforgettable RIKER-MANEUVER into every freakin' battle! I get chills just thinking about that joystick popping up on the bridge of the Enterprise, Riker pushing Picard aside and taking control of the situation!

Hmm, I rather expect to hear something more menacing or brooding, like the Borg theme in First Contact. (But I don't know the plot, I don't like knowing movie plots in advance)

They've started to show a more intricate, cultured, and downright emotional side to the Romulans- a brooding theme I can see, but I doubt it would take on the life of the Borg.

If they can even somewhat approach the tone and style of 2 and 6 I will be happy. A serious story that does not focus on Riker's beard, Data's emotions, or a colony of everlasting hippies would be great.

Hopefully an outside director will not give the standard saccharine look Next Gen usually gets.

First Contact was a step in the right direction, and while Insurrection was enjoyable at times, the cheesy story and retroactive special effects were a step backward.

    I LOVED FIRST CONTACT's SCORE!!!!!
I hunted and hunted for the complete score with good sound till i found it. 2CD 116:35
Which leads me to that his son should score the next trek movie.
