It's time to get out those Christmas CDs once again!
My very favorite Christmas CD is Michael W. Smith's Christmas!
My favorite Christmas movies are It's A Wonderful Life, with that magnificent Dimitri Tiomkin score, and The Bishop's Wife, with an incomparable Hugo Friedhofer score (is this one on CD?)!

What are your favorite Christmas movies and music?

"Die Hard" is always a holiday favorite.

...Though I do have a warm place in my heart for "The Muppets' Christmas Carol" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (music by Vince Guaraldi--a great holiday soundtrack CD.)

And never quite knowing which holiday to place this one in, i've deemed "The Nightmare Before Christmas" as a film for mid-to-late December, as a follow-up to Chuck Jones' "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas"....(The "Nightmare" special edition video in stores now--available in widescreen!)

Gotta go with Home Alone, both movie and music.

One of my fave Christmas film's has to be The Time Machine. That ending brings a lump to my throat everytime!

Score wise I always play John Barry's The Lion In Winter on X-Mas day

    NP : Walkabout - Barry

I love Christmas time, and I love listening to Christmas scores.

    my favourite Christams soundtracks are:

Home Alone(John Williams) - either 1 or 2, their both very similar and very good. It's got that great sound that puts me in the Christmas spirit.

The Nightmare Before Christmas(Danny Elfman) - This movie is a holiday mixture, but I myself deem it a Christmas movie, with a great Christmas score (and songs) that I will always love.

A Charlie Brown Christmas(Vince Guaraldi) - This CD is so classic, it reminds me of Christmas when I was little. Its so peaceful, yet still a bit of a toe tapper. So good.

A Muppet Christmas Carol(score by Miles Goodman, lyrics by Paul Williams) - I can't describe how good this score makes me feel. No other Christmas soundtrack better captures the warmth of Christmas than this album. I'm feel deep gratitude for Miles Goodman and Paul Williams. *tear*

My alltime favourite Christmas show is Mickey's Christmas Carol. This cartoon touchs me in a way I cannot describe. I love it. That would be cool to have a soundtrack for this cartoon, even if it would be short.

Let's not forget "Miracle on 34th Street." For me, this one always wins the "best Christmas score" award. Broughton did an incredible job with that one - and it thrusts me into the Christmas spirit even more so than the Home Alone scores (and it's tough to beat those!). Home Alone (1 and 2) come in VERY close behind.

Elfman's BATMAN RETURNS always puts me in a Christmas mood, much to the annoyance of my family. The music reminds me of the film, which had some amazing sets and art direction!

Nightmare On Elm Street definately. Freddy's green and red sweater always warms my heart. And for Thanksgiving, he's got great turkey knives.

OH! I can't believe I forgot one of the best Christmas scores: Santa Claus the Movie by Henry Mancini. This is a great score. Thanks for the reminder Racerprose.

    Cenzo

P.S. Speaking of Santa Claus the Movie, does anyone know where I can get this score, preferably on CD. Thanks.

The release for Santa Claus: The Movie is OOP. You might want to check out auction sites like Ebay.com

It is a truly excellent score. And is worth looking high and low for.

Both Home Alone scores get played alot. The original Grinch cd that Rhino issued will be played alot. Usually I end up playing my 2 Williams and the Boston Pops Christmas CDs. Of course You can't have a Christmas CD with out having the ORIGINAL first two volumes of Alvin & The Chipmunks. Those two CDs are played ALOT.
