I'm trying not to read the track titles.

    Spoilers be damned!

The first cue is pretty decent, but it's ripped off of Outbreak.

Shaun, thanks for the heads up on the titles!
Through a combination of squinting at the screen so everything was blurry, and keeping the windows minimized I managed to avoid reading any ot the titles save the first, which doesn't spoil anything.

As for the music itself, it sounds decent. I wasn't overly impressed by the thrity-second clips, but I think that, like the Sixth Sense, this score will work best in the film.

If the track titles have spoilers, do you think maybe they delayed the release of the score so nobody could buy it before seeing the film?

No it sounds like Davis' Death from Firestorm. Which sounds just like a JNH action score IMO.

If I'm not mistaken... Firestorm was released a few years AFTER Outbreak....... so Tim, what's your point?

    Point:

A lot of movie music sounds the same, no matter who wrote it and when?

    Good point Peter.

Personally, I wouldn't say it all sound the same, especially nowadays with Elmer Bernstein scoring films in the same year as the Dust Brothers.

    However -

    1. Most of a composer's work naturally has the same feel to it. At the end of the day, Williams sound like Williams, Shaiman sound like Shaiman and so on (in most cases).

    2. Quite a lot of the golden age scores I've heard have the same sound - Rosenman for example sounds like Viva Zapata! and a few other North, Rozsa etc. scores.

Please note however that I make the second point having heard very few golden age scores so correct me if I just happened to hear a few that sound similar.

NP - Judge Dredd Trailer Music - still my fav 60 secs of film music ever.

Listen to Firestorm and you'll see that the first track from Unbreakable sound just like the death cue from Firestorm.

Jeron, Tim's comment matters because it's exactly that: a comment.

If Tim's comments don't matter, these message boards don't matter.

Camillu, I agree. I assume you misread my line though, because I didn't say ALL scores sound the same - just a lot of them.

    Keep the comments coming....

Well, I certainly didn't mean to infer that his comments do not matter... I just don't see the significance in "Unbreakable" and it's similarity to "Firestorm." Just as you said:

    quote:
A lot of movie music sounds the same, no matter who wrote it and when.

Tim, I apologize if I came across seeming as if I didn't care. You know better. And by the way, I do hear a slight similarity between the two tracks... mainly in just the percussionary beat, if anything.
