I just read this in the Jurassic Park trivia section at the IMDb:

    quote:
The ending where the T-rex saves the day was added when the production team and John Williams decided that it was the hero of the film.

Was Williams really involved in this decision? And what was the original ending? (it was much different in the novel). The score in the movie has a bad cut at the beginning of this "new" finale (and at some other points, too), I think there's quite a bit of darker music on the tracks on the CD.

I think it was in a making-of special that they said originally the raptors at the end would be crushed by the skeletons and everyone would get out just as they did. I think they made the right choice.

The program didn't mention Williams at that juncture, however.

given the way Spielberg worships Williams, I wouldn't doubt it.

With Williams scoring several* of the biggest box office successes of all time--I wouldn't say it is misplaced worship....

(* = Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Jaws, Home Alone, Indiana Jones--you know the words, sing along....)

The IMDB says Home Alone grossed over $500M worldwide and $140M in US rental sales!

Home Alone 2 grossed about $280M worldwide, plus US rentals of $103M.

I'm no expert, but I'd say the first two Home Alone movies did very well.
