Here's a composer that seems to be highly regarded based on the different sites I've visited over the weekend.

I'm looking to pick up Anna and the King and Ever After as soon as I can, based on the near-universal acclaim for those two particular titles.

Any other good ones I should be looking out for?

"Dangerous Beauty" should be very high on your list of Fenton scores... it's excellent!

Another good one to check out is "Shadowlands", which I believe is OOP but can be found used fairly easily.

His music from Groundhog Day isn't too shabby. There's not much from Fenton but when his music comes around, it's quite nice.

If you can find a copy of his great old-fashioned thriller score for Final Analysis, don't hesitate!

For a more classically oriented score, definitely check out Dangerous Liasons in which his lush and georgeous own melodies are offset by adaptations of baroque composers (including G.F. Handel, whose work he would adapt as a score proper for The Madness of King George).

For a large-scale symphonic score, check out Memphis Belle. The music has a fantastically epic quality to it that has to be heard.

For a more modern score, check out The Fisher King.

uggh, The Fisher King. I can't get into that CD, no matter how many people praise it.

You definitely ought to check out the scores he has released on his own Debonair label.

For example, Carla's Song, and The Woodlanders features some great music and one of Fenton's most exquisite themes, as far as sheer beauty is concerned.

We're No Angels has some cheesy music on it, but there is also some HUGE orchestral material that'll blow your mind.
It's a Varese Club CD, and I think you can still get it via there website, but be prepared to be screwed on the shipping rates.

It's worth giving "Memphis Belle" a try, if you can overlook the inclusion of the quasi-pop choral rendition of "Danny Boy" stuck at the end of it....(I suppose it was too much to ask for Harry Connick's version of it stuck in there...)

Another fine Fenton score that doesn't get much mention: Born Yesterday. One of those rare '90s Fenton scores that didn't see a release.

THE CRUCIBLE is a great score for a outstanding movie. Particulary the last three tracks.

WE ARE NO ANGELS is also good, altought I never own it. But I remember from the movie.

SHADOWLANDS is my personal Fenton favorite, but am I the only person in the world who owns/has heard his music for the EuroDisney production Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show? Nobody ever talks about this orchestral smorgasbord of traditional tunes, mystical ambience, and all-out Coplandesque foot-stomping, toe-tapping romping Americana. It was released only as an expensive import and I believe it's long out of print, but if you ever have the chance to purchase it, don't hesitate!!!!!! And another ! for good measure.

Well I can't believe nobody has mentioned this already....

    !!!!!!HIGH SPIRITS!!!!!!

It's a shear masterpiece!!!! A quaint cute little movie with a fantastic score. This music is in my top FIVE faves of all time.

The only other score of Fenton's I have is MARY REILLY.....which is quite different.....horribly dark.....kinda interesing.

One of his earlier efforts - Gandhi, which he composed with Sitar supremo Ravi Shankar (hope I got the name and spelling right) is quite good.

Dangerous Beauty, Ever After and Anna and the King, however, are masterpieces.

MEMPHIS BELLE is my favorite Fenton score, and an album I find I never get tired of. HIGH SPIRITS is wonderful, but the sound mixing is appalling; however, there's only the one release, so nab it if you can find it. THE COMPANY OF WOLVES was just rereleased, and is good if you like really intense and difficult music (think ALIEN 3 or some such.)

Hey, I am came to this board to find out some great new scores that I dont' know about. When i saw the topic "George Fenton" here in the 'board, I immediately read it.

George Fenton is the latest composer that I've expressed an interest in. I haven't heard them all, but so far my favorite piece is his MEMPHIS BELLE: The Final Mission. Man, listen to that melody!

    Enjoy your quest!
