Bush. no question. he's more believable. He's more humble. He's got more credibility (see believeable). he doesn't make apologies to anyone for anything he does, or "try to be all things to all people."
Part of his appeal as a candidate, to me, is that he knows he's gonna piss off some people. He knows he's not gonna make everyone happy, and he's knows he certainly can't accomplish anything if he tries. And if for no other reason, he calls a reporter an A-Hole and stands by it in public. Dammit, THAT's the kind of person we need in the Whore H-, uh, White House.
to stay score-related, I think Trevor Rabin is more talented than John Williams could ever be. Gone in 60 Seconds is a frickin' masterpiece of form and structure. way better than Star Wars.

Gore. And anyone who votes differently is a NUTjob!
Actually, I have a hundred good reasons, but I just got back from an essay exam, so I'm not going to elaborate. Take the most eloquent pro-Gore anti-Bush arguments you've ever read and pretend it's me.

We kind of covered this in the official off topic post question for Peter K?, but since you asked Bush.Wedge, I respect your opinion, but I don't think you've seen the documents I've seen. If Gore was running against the Devil, I'd vote for the Devil because he has more integrity. Those of you on the West Coast now can be targeted by Chinese missles thanks to technology exchanged for Clinton/Gore campaign contributions. And I also know why Reno has not turned it over to an outside prosecutor.
As an accountant I can tell you that if you add all his promises up, Gore not only has no
lockbox, he also spends the surplus several times.I could go on longer than any Daniel2 post, but lets get back to music. Any opinions on THE YARDS?

Vladimir, this tally reveals how close this election is going to be:My immediate family 3-Bush
3-Gore
2-Nader
2-undecidedMy folks in Texas 3-Bush
4-Gore
3-undedidedI have a feeling there are many families divided like this and there are whole families on either side. It will be close. John.

JohnI completely agree with you that the race will be tight barring a major blunder by either main contender. It could be close enough that the popular vote winner could lose the electorial college and the election. This one will be won by who gets their people to the polls.

Who in the heck is this Ralph Nader fellow? He was on my college campus today rallying for support... and there were an awful lot of people with green hair roaming about. They were wearing hats that said "Kill the Television!"Anyone care to explain?

As for the Election, I have yet to meet anyone who is voting for Gore. I'm a Texan and pround to cast my vote for Bush. I've had enough of Bill and Al's bullsh*t. You can't tell me that if Gore gets elected he won't continue Bubba's joke of an administration. Oh sure ram a Middle East peace treaty down everyones throat and kill a bunch of innocent people. Or how about sending our military into places we don't really need to be...Yugoslavia is a prime example. I was in the military when Bubba and Al took office and I have yet to meet a fellow soldier who voted for those two. The morale in the military is low thanks to those two. Lets send our Soldiers to Bosnia where they can risk their life for something we shouldn't even be involved in. It is a waste of the taxpayer's money as well as American lives. Speaking of Taxes, hey Al it's our money not yours. Lets elect a president who stood by and did nothing while that cracker from Arkansas shamed the office.posted 10-18-2000 07:42 PM PT (US)

I can only say that standing in front of the ballot I would HAVE to ask a nearby authority, "Are these really the only choices I have?"Really, I'm closer to Gore on what he says his opinions are, but I wouldn't trust him to hold my camera, let alone hold the office of president.
But I don't really want to vote for Bush, either. Perhaps he's more trustworthy, but he has never impressed me with any records, speeches, or debates he has given (neither has Gore, to tell you the truth).
So those two are off my list... there are other candidates I might vote for like Nader (environment is pretty much my top concern, but then again I'm not sure the Green party is actually going to show up on the Illinois ballot), but to go into the booth and vote for any third party candidate would be throwing out my vote entirely.
So I must ask again, "Are these really my only choices?"
However, I will not be of voting age this November, so that is a burden I don't have to go through. But it vexes me so...

Ralph Nader is the Green Party's Presidential nominee. You may have heard of him when he was barred from participating in the debates and was thrown out when he tried to enter the building even though he had a ticket. I'm assuming the "Kill the TV" is referring to Nader not being allowed to take part in the TV debates.
Nader's very popular among the college and high school population, and he has supporters such as filmmaker Michael Moore and cartoonist Tom Tomorrow

I think it's also worth noting that while Gore does mess up the truth, he never said he invented the internet. He did, however, push to fund reasearch into the founding of the Internet when he was in the Senate.

That's an interesting "observation," Mr. Observer! "Satan lovers for Bush." My honest and blunt response? If it gives Christians an opportunity to show them God's love, I welcome their support with open arms. Also, thanks for the info on Nader. There were a lot of students congregated around Nader and his entourage today (at my college). But after speaking with many of the folks I run in to on a daily basis, their votes are with Bush. To them, Nader's whole "green" theme is a hinderance to his campaign. I mean, come on. Spiked neon-green hair? That's so eighties...

Neither Bush nor Gore should be president. Neither will get done what needs to be done. Neither will be true leaders(ones you would fight for). Both are politicians seeking self-interest. McCain I dug, Alan Keyes I alwasy dig, BUT I will vote for the lesser of the two evils...Bush, even though I hate em.

I've learned enough about the structure of our U.S. government to know that I could be a GREAT President by appointing the very best Cabinet!Believe me, I'm never going to run!
However, my statement (above) is true.
A President is only as good as his weakest Cabinet member. That fact has been one of Clinton's biggest problems! When he ran for the office, he PROMISED US a "Cabinet that looks like America"...but when he WON, he hired a Cabinet consisting of only LAWYERS!
Wedge, please explain to me WHY you are going to vote for the ONLY candidate who is currently under investigation for campaign fund-raising FRAUD?
Al Gore has been under investigation for more than a year now. That process WILL NOT GO AWAY no matter if he wins or loses. He may very well be found guilty after the election!
No matter what, I would rather have a President in office who is NOT carrying that kind of FELONIOUS baggage along with him.
I find it fascinating that our liberal media never mentions this.
I also find it fascinating that PeterK allows this thread to continue, after having killed my thread about Jesus.
Oh well...absolute power (you know).

Someone on NPR the other day said, "Are these 2 men REALLY the best our society has to offer up as leaders?"I couldn't agree more.
Thankfully Frontline on PBS had a special on both candidates and really opened my eyes to Bush's background. What most impressed me is his relationship with a Texas politician named Bullock (I think that's his name). Bush was able to oust a VERY popular governor out of office. So....he can at least talk the talk.
I dont (necessarily) believe him to be the overpriviledged sap that I once thought. I think his potential is actually greater than his father's. (I still cant get over his father referring to his own mixed marriage grandchildren as "the little brown ones". What an obtuse fool.)
I think George W could be a good President but I think he's just not ripe enough yet. Leave him on the tree a little longer and we'll see in another 4 years.
Gore's probably the anti-Christ but at least he's got more experience under his belt. He's my candidate....even though from the debates he came off as the kid who always had their hand raised with the answer in class. You know the one. The one that the teacher would overlook trying desparately to get another student a chance.
It's a shame that the people here in Texas are assuming that Bush will naturally win this state.
Its possible. There are enough inbred bumpkins here that'll think they're voting for Johnny Carson.Gore's my man even though I really did like McCain.

Personally, I vote for Eddie, but I'm sure that means a real lot to you Americans.I saw the debate yesterday, and was reminded of the fact that both major contenders in a US election state they agree with the death penalty.
So I don't know what I'd do if I were American. Probably I'd vote like PeterK.

Gore. One of my main problems with Bush is that he is too vague. Even if you go to his website and look at his breakdown of issues, some of them are so brief that it is hard to understand what or how he is going to accomplish things. Watching the debates, I noticed that Bush has proved to be too general (like he doesn't know what his opinion is on certain things, so he gives a very generalized response).
Another problem I have with Bush is the abortion issue. While I feel abortions are bad things, I also think that if a woman wants to have one, she should have that choice.
Bush also wants to raise the immigration level of "highly skilled immigrants." As a Computer Science student who will be entering the job force in a couple of years, I'd rather not have more immigrants around competing for jobs.
If McCain was still in this, he would get my vote.
Voting for Ralph Nader is like giving a vote to Bush.
