I just got a copy of the bootleg to David Newman's DuckTales:The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp and it is a fun score. I have not seen this movie since it was in theaters when I was little and had forgotten how good the music was.
David Newman's animated scores are all excellent, they seem to all sound like they were all written for life-action movies, instead of cartoons. I know most composers like to brag that they aren't doing a mickey-mouse type score, but Newman really succeeds.

I dug out my boot of Brave Little Toaster, another fun little score with cool themes. I think an official promo was supposed to happen, anyone know anything about it? (My boot doesn't have the great songs). The boot of Anastasia is superb, making what was only an average score on the offical cd in to a great one.
If you are looking for an score to an animated film without that "disney/menken sound" I recommend David Newman!

    NP: Ducktales the movie!

(I was a huge ducktales fan when it was on..the continous storylines were amazing to me as a young kid. Seeing characters remember what happened in other adventures was very different then the usual cartoon shows. Disney's TailSpin was also fun, with a great action theme...ahh the days where I would watch the Disney Afternoon on FOx, followed by the then-brand new Batman cartoon)
