The International Cut of LEON (aka THE PROFESSIONAL) is finally released on DVD, with additional 24 minutes footage. This is Luc Besson best movie (light years ahead of the unbearable FIFHT ELEMENT and THE MESSENGER). And it gets even better with the deleted scenes, which features some extremely cool moments where Jean Reno trains Natalie Portman.
But most important of all is the scene where Leon tells the girl the sad story of why he had to flee from Italy and why he becomes what he is. That's a crucial moment to the plot. It's unbelievable that was cut out from the previous release! The DVD also features Eric Serra's delightful cool score on a iso track.
A "must have" item...

Word of advice, wait until early October for Sony to re-issue this DVD. The one released on August 29th has faulty rear channels on the 5.1 track. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll get back to you with the correct product number to look out for.Dan (UK)

Ok, the problem lies within a third of the Leon DVD batch shipped on its original release date. As I said, the problem is a fault in the rear audio channels on the Dolby Digital 5.1 track, so if you have Dolby Digital processing in your home and notice quiet, to non existent audio on the rear channels (the other audio tracks onthe disc are fine) then enquire with where you bought it from about getting the replacement disc which is slipping into retailers right now...
The fault HAS been made known to retailers, so you shouldn't have much trouble explaining the porblem. The re-issue disc (look for the following info)

I only saw LA FEMME NIKITA once, a long time ago. I remember I liked it, except for the conclusion which was quite lame.I look forward to watch it again!

Or you could watch the scene-for-scene remake with Bridget Fonda, POINT OF NO RETURN ... you'll love it Andre, it has music by Hans Zimmer!

Dan,
I keep reading things about faulty DVDs and how the studios have "gotten in touch with retailers" (such as the missing burned-in subtitles on Spinal Tap) to alert them to the defects. I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but around here I have NEVER gotten an email about a faulty DVD. Not ONE! Bastards.Shaun

Well Shaun I only speak for Region 1 since it is all I purchase (via import) and I just know many US retailers are aware of the problem, and Amazon are even asking their customers to send back their copies to recieve a replacement, free of charge. Ask around, and look for the ID and UPC codes I gave you above, which indicate it is the fixed version.Swashbuckler, MGM's Spinal Tap: Special Ed was fixed just before release (so I heard) but early copies were missing the on screen titles introducing the band members... *hugs original Criterion ediiton*

*hugging my Criterion copy as well*The copies our store received were the UNcorrected versions. Trust me, I checked it out.
I wish our company would get their heads out of their respective asses.
