Possibly everyone knows this already, but the streamer thing across the top of the Screen Archives Entertainment website -- www.screenarchives.com -- says that the release of the Japanese CDs of Goldsmith's "Under Fire" and "Twilight Zone: The Movie" is now back on again, for Nov. 22.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but I just checked at:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/search.htmlAnd they still have NO RELEASE DATE LISTED.
So until someone has a copy in their hands, let's not get our hopes up quite yet.

"Twilight Zone"'s back on again, huh?
Let's hope it's for real this time. We've lost SHAFT, we almost lost this one, and Lord knows what's going on with SCARY MOVIE's score album. If these albums (and David Newman's BEDAZZLED) get (please forgive me) SHAFT-ed, I will lose all faith in soundtrack companies. In other words, bootlegs ho!

Hey, and we NEVER got MYSTERY ALASKA, which was the best score of 1999.Go figure.

Marc, if we pitch enough of a hissy about MYSTERY, ALASKA on this board, we might get something done about a CD!
I adore that WOEFULLY unreleased score, too. Still remember striding into Tower Records immediately after leaving the theater....then Virgin Megastore.....then Best Buy, and The Wherehouse (!!)......and sadly admitting to myself that yet another fine score from another major release was going on my Grail List.

Mark:I've been pitching a hissy on this list (and others) for almost a year now and it hasn't done any good.
Heck I couldn't even get the denizens of this esteemed list to RENT the video so they could hear the music for themselves--and then hopefully join in the chorus of those who know how good this music is (with the possible exception of H, who thought it unremarkable).

Marc,Hey now! I rented the film based on your recommendation and enjoyed the score thoroughly. As an admitted Burwell addict
, I'd love to see a release of this.posted 09-29-2000 08:30 AM PT (US)

Marc actually REMEMBERS that I found it unremarkable ... ?I adore most of Burwell's music, so would probably give an album a shot anyway, I might have a much different reaction to it out of context. I'd have probably bought the score even without seeing the movie, as Burwell is one of the few composers I'm willing to purchase "blind."

Yes, H, I remember, but I don't hold it against you. Jeron, you like everything.Besides JJH and Mark, the only other list member I remember remarking was Joan Hue, who said it was the FIRST thing she liked about the movie.
Other than that, the list has been pretty silent.

Mystery, AlaskaI saw it. We even bought the DVD.
I thought Mystery, Alaska was an okay movie with an okay score. Like Mr. Rocco, I would probably get it because I enjoy Carter Burwell's scores anyway.

Folks,
Until someone has a copy in their hot little hands and can confirm that these CD's exist, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high.
Unless I'm mistaken amazon.com was listing the score album to SHAFT as well for quite some time.
I'd love to see this happen, but I'll Believe it when I see it.

Well, I just ordered them (along with Rambo 3 and City Hall). I'll let you know when, and IF, they're shipped (I doubt they will ever ship, though). The prices are a bit higher than those listed unfortunately, because for Austrian customers, VAT is added only when finishing the order.

Well, I'd say the sales of those vaporware discs are pretty good, considering the "Verkaufsrang" for Under Fire is 75 and #35 for TZ: The Movie.

Your free to ignore them, as a matter of fact I would urge you to do so, you'll be much happier.

Not so, it actually refers to the place in the "sales charts". Don't know how much it gets updated, but I imagine that all of a sudden a lot of fans from all over the world are now ordering these two CDs from Amazon.de, which gets them very good sales rankings.NP: Bernard Herrmann The Day The Earth Stood Still (Fox Classics)

FYI,
if anyone has any trouble with website translation, like Jeron here,
go to
http://www.freetranslation.comHere, you can copy and paste the URL of a certain page, and it translates the page for you, taking you directly there. Sometimes the translation leaves a lot to be desired --kinda like a first year American taking German, but hey, you can get the gist pretty easily.

That is a great site, JJ. I just tried it out for the heck of it myself, and I imagine this site can be of quite some help to lots of people. And I just love the fact that with the "shipment of the mouse" you can "get yourself the mouse into the house". That is very funny.

Lonely Guy,
I don't know about you, but I don't like being talked to like a child. There's one thing to say, "Hey, let's not get too hasty here" (which was his first post), but to say something like "until someone has a copy in their HOT LITTLE HANDS", that's condescending in my book (no, really---that's what it says in my book).Shaun
