Just wondering if anyone got this today, and could explain what it's like?
The only things I didn't like with the original was that it sounded very small, just a few musicians with some synths. And also it seemed very repetitive, the main theme was performed in every track, which made it a little boring.
So does the new CD have a larger sound to it? And cues that were not in the original?]

And I guess you really have no reason to care about them... if you want a DVD iso, you'll just ask me or someone else w/ a fast connection for it.

Well I've just never been all that ecxited about them. And yes I know some have ISO scores.
I think it's interesting how people buy DVDs to old films when they've seen them 100s of times and own the VHS. And it's not even thier favorite movie!NP Red King, White Knight (John Scott) ***/*****

Tim,do you know how Walker's commentary was dealt with?Since the score and commentary are on the same track, and are not separate tracks like The Matrix score and commentary.I noticed that sometimes her talking would overlap into the beginning of some cues.I was just wondering how the two were separated?Unless I just didn't notice a feature on the dvd that allows you to choose one or the other.

Ok.Well, I guess that makes me the only one who did!

I wasn't going to, since I was not sure if it being re-recorded, was an good thing or not. Though, as always temptation got the best of me, isn't that always the way? Having an free CD coming to me, didn't hurt either.

Anyway, I should have it any day now. I'll post my feelings of it, at that time. Unless of course someone else fell to the film score buying bug as well, and posts about it beforehand!

[Message edited by Matthew on 09-27-2000][/B]I don't have the DVD, the original 31 tracks I have, the speech was removed, using cool edit or something. You can tell becuase of the degrade in sound quality. Ask The New Film Score Sounds or Jeff78.

No problem!
I hear it is rather good, and perhaps even better than the original disc. I'll let you know when it comes in either way!

I posted this earlier at another message board...hope this helps.Hey all. I just picked up the new LAST OF THE MOHICANS recording done by McNeely and the RSNO on a whim today. I must say, I'm pretty impressed. While the CD lacks the raw energy present in the original (especially in the pieces written by Trevor Jones), the orchestration is much fuller, with some quite impressive sounding snare work. Furthermore, the few tracks that are on here by Edelman are better than the originals, with the orchstral performance making the tracks really shine (though they pale in comparison to Jones's work). The added tracks from the original are very nice. The stand out of those, and the score in general, has to be the "Promontory" (that's how it's spelled on the CD) track. It's the film version of it (minus the electronics that just made it click in the film), and it's truly stellar. I still long for that complete track as heard in film, but this is a more than acceptable substitute, and thankfully not a rehash of the hacked up version on the original album. Overall, a success for McNeely and the RSNO, for sure, and recording that, in my opinion, really stands up well with the original.
