Ford A. Thaxton

FYI,There's a very good interview with him at
http://www.eonmagazine.com/eon/articles.asp?id=3615Also he's just now recording his score for the upcoming film "The Gift" and then it's onto "The Glass House".
Also Citidal Records will at long last In November be releasing his score to JUDAS KISS along with live concert performances of music from "Species", "Hellraiser" and "Hellbound-Hellraiser 2".
So fans of Mr. Young should be rather happy this week.Regards

A performance of Species conducted by Mr. Young himself, I mean. Not the stuff on those compilation CDs. Blech.

FYI1.) SILVA SCREEN recorded the end title to SPECIES three years ago on the compilation SPACE & BEYOND which marked it's first appearance on a "Legit CD".
2.) The live concert performances on the upcoming JUDAS KISS CD ARE NOT Conducted by Mr. Young.
Mr. Young will be the first one to tell you that not a conductor and that task is best left to others.

Silva's recording of the Species end title is actually very good. The original soundtrack recording was available as a promo, you can probably still find it. It's well worth looking for.
Ford, who is conducting these pieces? And is it just suites from these three scores, or will there be some other stuff in there?

Hmm. I honestly thought that with all of his talent, he could conduct.Anyway, here's hoping that the live concert performance of Species on the new JUDAS KISS album will be better than the one featured on that Silva Screen compilation. (Actually that one isn't that bad. I'm surprised that out of all the recordings recycled on Silva's compilations, this wasn't.)

I don't know who conducted these pieces, all I do know is taht they the concert was given around Halloween (at about the same time he scored THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO LITTLE) and featured Doug "Pinhead" Bradley introducing Young's part of the concert. What was performed were the concert versions of themes to "Hellraiser" and the opening track that is heard on the CD that runs about 7:00, they also perform the end title to "Species".
I hope that answers your question.

I'm really pleased about Young's uncoming assignments especially Sam Raimi's The Gift, for the film really looks promising. But where in the hell is the score album for Wonderboys?? The movie's being reissued in late October for an Oscar run, but when is the score coming out that's if Varese is still planning to release it.

FYI,The WONDERBOYS score release depending on who you talk to is up in the air or just flat out not happening.
The last "Official" Comment I heard was the score CD might be released in late November.
I've emailed Mr. Townend directly to find out what's happening, when he answers I'll pass it on.

Hey Ford, good lookin out. If it doesn't happen, then one would expect that Young will produce some kind of promo for Wonderboys if the deal falls through. But let's hope for the best because this is really good score that at the very least should've had a lengthy suite on the Sony release.P.O.

At one time, I thought Elfman was aboard for The Gift. His work with Raimi for A Simple Plan was pretty impressive, but I am actually glad that Young is currently signed on for this project.

Well Danny Elfman is featured in The Gift as a fiddle player,in one scene which may be cut out. But I'm really looking forward to The Visitor aka.Planet of the Apes 2001 and yes, my personal fave Spider-Man directed by Sam Raimi coming in November of next year. Oh I forgot he's also scoring Taylor Hackford's Proof of Life and the Nicolas Cage It's Wonderful Life retread called The Family Man. So exepect some Scrooge-like riffs in that score. The Elf-man is plenty busy....
