People buy "Pan Tadeusz"by Wojiech Kilar. It's absolutely marvelous.Never heard about the film.Must be an obscure polish costume drama. But the music:fantastic!
It has everything a good Kilar score needs
1.Romantic string writing a la "Portrait of a lady"
2.Mysterious romantic music a la "Dracula"
3.Dark stomping music a la "Dracula" and "The Ninth Gate"(but without the choir)
4.March music(the first time Kilar writes real march music(exept the "Vampire Hunter March" from "Dracula")
5.A main theme absolutely gorgeous.Impressionistic as Ravel or Debussy.
Buy it now at Intrada. You won't be dissapointed.

Hi Benford your not alone. I bought this score a few month's ago, It's fabulous! I suspect it isn't getting the attention it deserves due to the fact that no one's seen or heard of this film?!

Benford, welcome to the board! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. "Dracula" is the only one of Kilar's that I own. I've been eyeing "The Ninth Gate." I just spent more than I probably should have on a ton of cds, so I'll wait before heavily considering expanding the Kilar section.I look forward to more of your posts!

Buy it now at Intrada. You won't be dissapointed.I love this score so much... I don't think anyone writes a love theme like Kilar does. There is such longing and passion in his love themes... So much raw emotion. And isn't that what it's really like when you're in love? Everyone should own this score. And Portrait Of A Lady... and The Ninth Gate...

Posts like these above as well as other Kilar scores I picked up and liked moved me to finally purchase this score. All I can say is Wow! I took to this one immediately. In fact, as each new cue came on and sustained itself, I was in disbelief, my jaw just hit the floor. I kept saying, well that cue was great but the next one will be the let down. And then, the next cue would be great too.
This score defies gravity. This is the answer to all you Horner/Zimmerites out there. All new films should have scores like this one.....

Actually the Polish collection of his music I have contains some march music that he wrote back in the '70s or so. Still, it's fairly obscure & not well know stuff, but good music nevertheless.
I've not got this Pan Tadeusz myself yet, but it's well high on my "CD's to buy" list. (Damned long list). It's gonna have to wait until after Xmas though...
Just LOVE Kilar's music.np Dragonheart:A New Beginning
