I keep getting this mixed up with The Replacements.

This is yet another "re-hash" soundtrack, as just about every single track on here was featured in at least 2 other films.

    Junk!

Don't go see or buy the score of this film. Read my post TITAN LIES! I explain, sort of.

    Hey DjC,
I'm listening to you! I refuse to see this movie!

And once again, Clay, when I say "junk!", it's the situation I'm referring to (the fact that nearly all of the songs appear on other soundtrack albums), not that the songs themselves are junk. Really, though---how many times can they put "Spirit In The Sky" in a film?

    Junk!

Come on guys, how many fiction movies have you seen? Did the trailer say "Based On A True Story"? The one I saw didn't. I'd see it anyways. The can't be fire in space, but I still enjoyed Armageddon, and so did a lot of people.

I just hate seeing films that purport to be based on true stories, and then we find out that the only thing in the film version that warrants its "based on a true story" title card is the fact that both of the stories took place in the United States and the people depicted speak English. Everything's softened to appeal to audiences. Who would want to see Denzel Washington play a drug-addicted, self-absorbed a**hole and see Will Patton as the voice of reason? The answer: nobody.

There have been several films in the last 20 years that have been "based on" true stories, but have had key elements altered to cater to brain-dead audiences.

For instance, did you know that in the real-life incident depicted in the 1982 film E.T., the alien was a vile, smelly beast with one eye and four ears who only spoke in curse words? He later formed a rock band named Clubfoot and toured Argentina. Whether or not he actually ate Gertie remains a mystery....

Just goes to show you, don't believe everything you see at the movies.

Edited to mention that Armageddon is science fiction. Grains of salt are to be taken. I'm talking about what happens when Hollywood takes a true life incident (vile, profanity-spewing alien eats innocent family) and turns it into schmaltz (E.T. The Extra Terrestrial). In reality, Elliot was trying to get AWAY from "E.T." on the bike. Spielberg puts E.T. ON the bike!

And children, what is the key word in "Based on a true story?" All together now: BASED. THAT'S CORRECT! Meaning they add, take and alter the story so it fits the audiences needs. As for not believing the movies. Why would someone believe the movies anyways?

Thanks for the soundtrack information. Re: Based on a true story. The general theme, account, story of the film is true with it being "Hollywoodized", of course. Some of the characters are made up, some of the events were changed but they were integrated and they did win the championship. Can't wait to see the film!!

Yes they were integrated, yes they were the best team in the nation the 2nd year. Yes the coach was a druged, stupid, a**hole, not really a good coach, and yes the integration was practically illegal, for they only had the power to move teachers instead of an entire school. Yes there were riots every week, yes no one got a great education, yes the "other" coach from the "other" school was a better coach than the fool portrayed by Denzel "fool" Washington, yes they were called the Titans, yes the whole process was flawed, damned, and doomed from the beggining, and yes the audience will asume that since it is Based of a True Story, they will think it IS a True Story, and yes those folks will be called idiots by me, yes I am trying to spread the word, and yes I am not so mean in person.

Well Shaun, I detest you. Just thought you'd like to know that. You really get on my phucking nerves. As for a "Based On A True Story" film, I agree 1000% with DjC. I really don't get what you mean by saying "I am not so mean in person." I didn't think your response was mean at all. But I do have a question, if a film is "Based On A True Story" and doesn't exactly follow the true story, does that mean the film isn't entertaining? Lets face it, we go to movies to be entertained and taken away from the world (at least I do). So what's the difference as long as we don't believe it and we just enjoy the movie what what's fiction and what's true. And if you believe it's all true, then you're considered an idiot in my eyes too.

Listen. Clay. I know you have problems. Don't take them out on me or anybody else who doesn't think Hans Zimmer (and his bitches---my girlfriend's official term for Media Ventures) is God's gift to film scoring.

I'm saying that it's wrong for studios to milk "Based On A True Story" for box office, when they are telling you a biased account of what actually happened to get you to like the characters better.

It's one thing to be entertaining, but how would you feel if you were portrayed on screen as a really nice guy who likes Jerry Goldsmith and thinks Hans Zimmer should go back to The Buggles, just because some studio head thought it would "play better"?

    Hmmm.

Shaun, you are the older one. You sit in that corner over there.

Clay, you sit in the other corner.

Both of you take a deep breath and realize that you are moviemusic.com brothers.

What would you do without each other? He? Tell me that?

Just get along gosh darn it

NO! I am not gonna sit in that corner! Instead, I will tell Shaun, that I am willing to make an effort to get along, as long as he is nice to me and doesn't diss my music, or anyone elses just cause he doesn't like it. And Shaun, I never knew you like Armageddon.

Remember how this whole thing started this time. My fault?

Clay, our disagreements are usually over the fact that I believe most of Media Ventures output to be crap (Chill Factor is a good example of a truly awful score that Zimmerites go orgasmic over; I'm not SO into Goldsmith that I force myself to like Angie or Star Trek: Insurrection).

Anyway, here's a rundown as to what I like from Armageddon.

    2. Harry & Grace Make Peace
    3. AJ's Return
    5. Leaving
    7. Harry Arrives At NASA
    9. Launch
    12. Finding Grace
    17. Armageddon Piano
    18. Long Distance Goodbye/Landing

and from HGW's stuff I like the President's speech and the burn around the moon crash. That's about it, though. So, I'm not a complete *******.

I am a Zimmerite! But I don't really love Chill Factor. Sure there were some great moments, but all in all, the only good stuff was the cues that sounded like Face/Off. The rest made me feel like I was in a fricken carnival. Especially the end credits. For some odd reason, a lot of Zimmer's latest scores have been doing that to me. Like Gladiator, I don't like this score to much because it's... well, I don't know what the hell to think of it. Lots of people love it, I don't. But I also haven't seen the movie... Oh well.
