wish I could be there when the individual who actually wins the auction reads the part of booklet saying he could've bought it for 20 bucks instead of the final price.posted 09-03-2000 04:58 PM PT (US)

Haha, a funny thing is that I bought a Hoffa CD from that guy, and I overpaid, too: $20 for an opened cut-out. It was out of print, though, and I didn't know where else to get it.

Yipees. But it does lead into a good topic. What's the most expensive CD or LP in your collection and in retrospect were you ripped off or was it a good deal?? About 10 years ago, I payed $80.00 in an auction for Morricone's Five Man Army.(Lp) I never regreted the purchase for one minute but I think I may have bid against myself and jacked the price up. DuhhhhIn Anycase the purchaser probably loves the music to The Omega Man so maybe he'll get his money's worth. I hope so. Also hope he never finds out he could have bought it for $20.00

The Omega buyer might just go back on the bid. Not everybody pays up.My most expensive film score? I think of "Defending Your Life" (Michael Gore) as my $1000 CD. I searched for it and found that it was reliably out of circulation.
I finally decided that the only way I could ever hope to get it was to go on the internet. I bought a computer, hence the $1000, and within a week or two I found a copy on Ebay. I got it for a little over $20.
Here I am a year and a half later, still using this computer, and still buying stuff off the net. No regrets, I guess.

Scott, I would but I don't have a CD-R burner, yet. Anyway, the same guy I got mine from is auctioning another one on Ebay. It ends in about 8 hours, 40 minutes, so I hope you see this in time. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=419598845

"Don't get this booklet thingie?"
FSM puts a disclaimer in their newer CDs in the last page or so that says something to the effect: "If you bought this CD from anyone but us, you probably paid too much for it."and they'd be right.

Heh, heh, heh... that's funny indeed. Hope nobody really had to shell out $96.- for The Omega Man. Yet.The most expensive CD in my collection? I don't know. Under Fire perhaps, which has sold for as much as $275.- I only paid $20.- for it though.

Well,I am seriously thinking of purchasing Williams' "SpaceCamp" for...are you ready?...$199.00.
I love this score. Although it is a lot of money, and I am (by far) not rich, I am willing to spend it for that soundtrack.
What do you guys think? Should I get it or not?

Only my opinion Scott, but NO!, I bought this on l.p. when it was released and it's still the most unplayed Williams I have in my collection, surely someone will do a CDR for you (I can't do l.p. transfer), and speaking of which are you interested in HOFFA on CDR?!$199.00. will buy you plenty of far better music than Spacecamp.

I'm with Timmer Scott.Of course you may spend $199 on SpaceCamp if you wish. But, in my opinion, that's about $199 too much. The only good part is the main concert track which, I think, appears on track 8. Otherwise, the film, which is a childhood guilty pleasure of mine, is better than the standalone score.
never really liked this score, and, like Timmer, is less played than even Missouri Breaks. whoa!

I like parts of SPACECAMP, but I don't play it much. If I remember right, the album doesn't really come to life until the cue "In Orbit" (or something like that), the first big statement of the pretty main theme. Strange, Williams didn't produce that album, Lionel Newman did. Don't know why.$96 for OMEGA MAN -- I am just aghast. I have a lot of discs in my collection that have BECOME collectors' items (UNDER FIRE, WITCHES OF EASTWICK etc.), but I've never paid that kind of money for anything. And in this age of CDRs, I'm sure I never will.
NP: INCHON (Jerry somebody, not a CDR, in those pre-CDR days I was quicker to catch up to new releases than I bother to do today)

I don't know why CDR's are so expensive, I would never pay more than about $20 for a CDR.

I wouldn't even pay that. I'd pay cost, at most.CDRs are going to be the great leveler when it comes to thinking about music discs as "collectibles." I know that on my part, I don't care if I have an original. I only care if it sounds like one.

H Rocco nails it as usual (Been waiting awhile to say that)
Paying more than cost for a CD-R is ridiculous. I prefer originals, but I can make CD-R's, with perfect cover art, that sound as good as anything from a bootlegger. I prefer to trade, but barring that cost of postage and blank media is all that I or anyone should charge for a copy. (About 5 bucks with most of that for postage)
