    Still collecting John Scott scores:
Walking Thunder: JS scores a 'western', I love it
Ruby: JS delivers a jazz influenced score w/ thematic orchestration, very nice
Cousteau, Papua New Guinea: done in 3 sections, 1 and 2 are basically improvisational sax and drums (this is one is not my cup 'o tea)

Well there are a few pieces that are typical early 70's sound, and the cd running time is 34:00 min. It is basically written in the same style as the Towering Inferno. Being a fan of Williams I've tried to get all of his scores. It isn't one of his best, but it's not to bad. There are also a couple of sound effect tracks. Most of the tracks are written for the city or characters. Williams didn't underscore the Earthquake sequences.

Just thought I'd add my grain of sand to the Earthquake debate. I'm thinking back now to when I got the LP, all of, what, 25 years ago? Anyway, I loved that record then, and still do. I think some people may be disappointed that there isn't more dramatic underscore, and it doesn't develop like a great score should, but, for all that, I love that eclectic mix of John Williams grandeur, cocktail jazz, 70s rock (nearly) and delicious love themes: it's a bit like those Henry Mancini records from the 60s that included all the redone expanded versions of the source cues, and left you thinking "Where's the score?" You ended up loving these things anyway.

John Williams rules, and so does Earthquake!

anyway: new additions to my collection include:

The Cell, this is bad-ass music
