Yet more stuff in the mail- from Sountrackers this time. I think I overdid it a little this month.

Sneakers, James Horner- I love this score. I haven't even finished listening to it yet, and I love it. It's very similar to "The Pelican Brief" in style (a score I also love, although very few others do.).

Conan The Destroyer, Basil Poledouris- Despite everyone saying this is Poledouris' worst score, I like it. If this is as bad as he can get, I'll buy anything by him! (I already do, in fact, and he has yet to disappoint me.)

Trapped In Paradise, Robert Folk- (On JJ's suggestion.) Can't comment, because I haven't listened to it yet.

    NP: Sneakers, Horner

    From Best Buy yesterday:
Urban Legends: Final Cut, Ottman- At first I found this a little underwelming, but I'm liking it more with more listens. I may actually see the movie, if only to hear the score in the film and to guage Ottman's directing ability. The film itself looks rather stupid.

Wild West: Essential Western Film Music (Silva compilation)

NP: Urban Legends: Final Cut, Ottman

    And in the mail today...

Mousehunt 2CD, Silvestri: I think this is a recording sessions boot. It has several versions of a few tracks and a lot of short cues. Some of them seem to be false starts of other cues, and in the last few cues on the second CD you can hear the conducter and the orchestra talking...

    London Sessions Volume One, Delerue

    NP: London Session 1, Delerue

I traded for CDRs from another guy who had it. I don't know where he got it, but it didn't come with packaging or tracklistings. Hard Target mentioned that he had tracklistings, but he hasn't replied to my e-mail yet (that's assuming I sent it to the right address).
I'm trying to put together a tracklisting, but unless I get one from somebody, I'll have to watch the movie and write down the cues.
Seems like it might fit on one CD if you get rid of a few of the similar alternate recordings of cues. (Such as the main title, and a couple of other things.)

Is that purely incidental that there's so much Barry stuff AND the Looking for Richard disc from Timmer?

Jennifer 8(Young; sounds a great deal like JUDICIAL CONSENT; pretty good, though. Note to self: next Chris Young score should be from a non-thriller. Did I type that or just think it?)

I'm so incredibly poor it doesn't bear thinking about. I only had 400 pesetas left after I'd bought my very necessary beer at the supermarket, and instead of giving it to the gypsies who were hanging around outside, I got a cheapo Bruckner. Thank you all for mentioning him here! I wouldn't have got it otherwise!

I speant today and yesterday creating the second in my series of Composer-themed CDR Compilations. My first was "James Newton Howard Suites And Themes" with some of JNH's best work (including the main and end titles from The Sixth Sense).
Now, I have made "Hornerisms: The Film Music Of James Horner" combining tracks from a few well known Horners ("Apollo 13," "The Perfect Storm") with lesser recognized works (such as "Courage Under Fire," "The Rocketeer," "The Pelican Brief," and "A Far Off Place").
I did a good job, if I do say so myself.

Marian, it's his 7th Symphony, on Laserlight Classics, with Hartmut Haenchen conducting the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

This may be as rare as rain in the Scottish Highlands, but I've just started branching out, so I don't know for sure. What I DO know is I like it!

Well, his 7th is certainly great, but I still don't understand why it's his most popular work. For me, #4, #6, #8 and #9 are even a good bit better. So if you like the 7th, be sure to check out the rest, too.

(Somehow I feel I'm beginning to repeat myself)
