you know, I'm just hooked on the dang show.
If I don't get my fix twice a day, life is dreadful.

anyway, the early shows have been on lately, and I had always assumed Alf Clausen had done the scores, being the giant doofus that I am (after all, I DO dislike Hoosiers).

Yesterday I noticed Patrick Williams' name flash on the screen, and tonight, in an episode about Bart staving off a repeat of the fourth grade, Arthur B Rubinstein composed the score.

I think it's interesting to note the musical style of these older episodes.

anyone know of any other somewhat notable composers to have scored The Simpsons?

I do admit to having heard absolutely nothing of Rubinstein's work prior to tonight, and only have heard Williams' Jesus TV mini-series score.

oh, and my Simpsons quote of the day:
    "Smiiii--tthers!!"

Richard Gibbs (who also scored practically "The Simpsons"' godmother, "The Tracey Ullman Show") scored a few episodes in the first season.

Another thing: I know I've seen Arthur B. Rubinstein's name in the credits, but I've never seen Patrick Williams' name in the credits.

If memory serves me correctly, the first episode Alf scored was "Treehouse of Horror," which I think was actually second season.

JJH, you'd do wise to rent NICK OF TIME and WARGAMES (both John Badham films). The main title from "NoT" is spectacular.

I've seen NoT twice, and always liked the music. I nearly picked it up once, but then wasn't so sure. Maybe I'll get it next time. Very good movie, too, plus Johnny Depp and Christopher Walken.
