I have many favorite composers but Hans Zimmer has always and always will be at the top of my list.He is one of the best composers to write action music and is also known to write very emotional music as heard in Backdraft and Lion King. Here are my soundtracks I have so far in my growing collection. My question for you guys is what cd's am I missing that I must get by Zimmer? thanks Matt here are my cd's I have so far
Backdraft.. (my favorite Zimmer score)
Broken Arrow.. (just got it..its different but very cool)
Gladiator..( A neat score )
Mission Impossible 2 ( Although its short its worth every minute)
Crimson Tide..( A classic Zimmer score )
The Rock ..( The main theme is all he did but I love it)I am looking for the Peacemaker it sounds just like crimson tide i think but I loved that music !!!

Well you are going to want some of his older orchestral works, and dramatic such as House of Spirits, and Fools of Fortune (his best score intellectually). Also try some comedies such as Nine Months, As Good as it Gets, or maybe The Preachers Wife (main title). And of coarse something from Beyond Rangoon (the score got that me into Zimmer!)Just know that he has done alot more slower, and dramatic stuff thats highly noteworthy, and don't wide up with a CD full of clichéd action music. Which is just one side of the diamond.
Peacemaker sounds like Crimson Tide becuase he thought of it as an extention; things he want to do with Crimson Tide that he couldn't had the time, so theres a reason for the simularity.

The Thin Red Line and K2 are both fine editions to any Zimmer collection!

I'd have to agree that Thin Red Line is a great absentee from your list. But don't expect something like Crimson Tide, this is a whole new level and very much a love-it-or-hate-it score.Driving Miss Daisy has a nice relaxed theme,
and Prince of Egypt is another great score.NP - Sleepy Hollow

Definately pick up The Thin Red Line and Prince of Egypt if you can. In my opinion, those are his two best. I actually don't own that many Zimmer cds, I believe the ones i DO own are :Backdraft
Gladiator
Crimson Tide
The Thin Red Line
Prince of Egypt
Beyond Rangoon
Green Card
Lion KingWhile I believe The Thin Red Line is Zimmer's best score to date, like the above said, it might be a hate-or-love score. As with Prince of Egypt, it isn't so much like that. If you like Zimmer's grand themes (especially in Lion King), I'm sure you'll love Prince of Egypt. I don't have The Peacemaker, but track 3 (like 20 min long!) is an awesome action track and track 4 has some nice vocals. Like Tim said, Beyond Rangoon is also a great score. Also, Green Card and Driving Miss Daisy are similar in their soft, mellow sounds. I love them both, and it'd be hard for me to decide which is the better. Hope that helps a little.

Actually, track 4 is 18 minutes long. It's like a mega mix of all the chase music. And track 5 has the really dramatic vocals. Track 3 also has them, but they're not nearly as good.
I would pick up The Fan CD (it has 19 minutes of score and 1 song that was written by Hans and features the score as the back ground music.)Clay G.

If you have a few extra bucks to spare, get Drop Zone. Not a compulsory, but "Too Many Notes, Not Enough Rests" is good enough a track to make me buy this.

And what a complete doofus of me to leave out Days of Thunder!! It's a bootleg or promo (whatever you call it). My no. 1 Hans Zimmer score and no. 1 in my score collection! It's too bad that I don't own a CD burner, cos I can send you a copy, but then there are always the good guys here in MovieMusic who can help you out.

From Moviemusic's #1 Zimmer fan, here's some more to add:
Point of No Return
Black Rain (Its an Import CD but worth every penny if you can find it)
True RomanceHere are some nice Bootlegs. The ones I have feature 2 scores per disc:
Days of Thunder/Radio Flyer
Thelma & Louise/Regarding HenryAlso, one must not forget the classic Driving Miss Daisy.
And if you can find the Walmart official promo CD for Prince of Egypt I highly recommend that just for the chariot race theme that was deleted from the actual soundtrack release.

Hmmm,I always been fond of A World Apart and The Power of One. If you like the Lion King, you'll probably like the latter one as well.
Radio Flyer is another very sweet score, full of pleasantries.
