PeterK,
That John Barry thing is hilarious. I've played that game with my girlfriend before (it's almost like the football quiz in Diner).Shaun

Reminds me of a spoof Movie Quiz Game Show called 'BLue Movie Film Buff of The Year' where the 3 panellists are asked by the quizmaster 'name the film this piece of music comes from',cue erotic sounding saxaphone music,
one of the panellists presses his buzzer and answers : 'ALL OF THEM'!
quizmaster: 'CORRECT'!
p.s. Your Barry quip was NOT funny Mr.K!

Not to be the only one throwing a bitter, sad note to this, but here goes...
You might (if not tied down to a certain place) make it centrally located to most of the members of this place. I mean, Florida is okay (I personally don't like the state, but oh well...), and San Diego is fine, but those are at the "ends of the earth" country-wise.
Why not someplace equidistant (as possible) from the members? That way it's not such a long trip, and costs could be kept down.
Also, from a personal standpoint, even though I would love a get-together, it's more than likely not ever in the cards for me. Money's the problem. I don't have it. Heck, I couldn't even afford to attend the Goldsmith concert in Detroit last June, and that's just a 2-hour drive! I certainly can't afford to jet to Florida or California. And heck, my best friend lives in LA. The only time I see him is when he comes back here.
So... I'm afraid I'll be counted out. Unless I win the lottery. Everyone else have fun though. Whenever it happens.

Kevin,Your points are well taken. The reason I thought Florida would be a good idea is that I have conncetions here which could lower the price.
Now PeterK will be doing a poll later this month regarding the location. I want this to be easy for everyone and work out. Hence the pre-planning. Now, the money situation hopefully will work out in that we can help anyone come to the party. It does not matter how much money a certain person has, its what they bring and share at Moviemusic.com.
Now... Scott mentioned possibly everyone sending 5.00 a month and we could possibly raise 3000 dollars off of that alone. Any other ideas? We can open a bank account and put money aside.
Dallas was mentioned as another possible place. I could maybe try to work a little magic with the Dallas Symphony seeing I do know a few people that play in it.
Check into sponsors, throw out ideas, think about what has been said, and lets make this happen!!
Love ya all,

Aaron used to say I could speak for him when he's not immediately around to respond... so here's my effort. He was the "guy" who was )and still is) trying to put this together. After all, someone's got to do it. Aaron's been going through some personal things as of late, as well as being EXTREMELY busy with school... so for him, this has taken the back burner. I'd take the baton, but I'm not quite sure about putting together something of this magnitude. I feel as if Peter should be directly involved (if we're going to label it as a MovieMusic.com event)... anyway, whoever feels up to organizing this event, e-mail Aaron and see what he has put together so far. I'm sure he wouldn't mind sharing the leadership of this undertaking w/ someone else.Jeron

If Aaron's talking about the Radisson/Bay Harbor, that sure is a nice place. And I can vouch for the Florida Orchestra and film music. They did a superb job with Maurice Jarre at the baton back in May and also put on a fine general film concert a few years back.

Florida? I'm all for Florida! I still barely know my way around, but that's a separate issue ...

Flordia...hehe I still wish it could be somewhere closer to home, thats like across the US for me =(Anyway, I still think it's a great idea because I want to meet all of you!
Anyway, I really don't know what to say because I'm kind of frizzed about school and stuff and I'm kind of "depressed" about it. And to top off my "perfect day", I'm having my eyes looked at (great they will be all 'eye dropped up' now I really woun't be able to read)
I know what I just said had nothing to do with the party but I've been acting werid these past days as Jeron can tell you.

The nametag idea sounds sensible. Personally, I wouldn't be able to recognize a film music fan if they hit me on the head :-). Thor, I'm afraid Oslo, beautiful though it is, will be slightly too big a burden for our finances (inebriation etc.). But I take your point; perhaps we Europeans can organize some sort of proto-event closer to home, even if it were just to get those juices going for the big kahuna?

Well, I am back and still not in the greatest mood, but... nevertheless I want to get this project a la rolling! This is something that will take a lot of work and effort, and I am willing to put in my time to organize it with the help of as many people I can get to help.
So, first things first... If you have any ideas for this PARTY, email me at ACOLLINSUF@email.msn.com or post them right here.
***No location has been picked and I am willing to do it anywhere that is feasible for everyone.
***Lets seriously start getting this up and moving.
My first question is: would sending 5 dollars(or more if you feel compelled) be out of the question? I think we can at least generate enough funds for a hall or food or something along those lines.
Thanks,

Aaron, I think $5 is a good idea. There's another financial problem, though: Obviously, travelling costs will be significantly higher for us Europeans. While I think I can safe enough money to attend, some others might have problems. Maybe we can find a way (quite literally, hehe) here, too.

You did mean $5 per month, right?

Yes Marian, I did mean 5 dollars per month. I would also like for all the people in Europe and other locations across the globe to be present. The more feedback and responses I get, the better off the planning goes. Thanks,
