First off, I am a moron...but more about that later.

The concert was, as usually absolutely outstanding. Here the pieces in the order they were performed.

    Bugler's Dream/Olympic Fanfare and Theme
Excerpts from Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Jim's New Life-from Empire of the Sun
    Two Pieces from Angela's Ashes
Theme and Angela's Prayer (didn't realize that one during the rehearsals)
    Excerpts from Far and Away

Intermission (will talk about that in a sec)

    Celcbration 2000
(Immigration and Building-One Way Ticket-Star Gazers
Theme form Sabrina (the progman mentioned this but it was not performed. Instead he played the Barrel Chase of Jaws)
    Theme form The Patriot
    Anakin's Theme
    Adventures on Earth from ET

    Three encores were performed

    Schindler's List
    NBC-The Mission Theme
    Raiders of the Lost Ark

All pieces were performed well, alhtouhg I detected some mistakes here and there, then again, it could be that my ears are just spoiled to the pieces from the cds.

"Now, what must be one of the most dramatic changes in pase in history..." (John Williams introducing the Mission Theme after Schindler's List)

"Since we had the Democratic Convention this week and most of us did not have a chance to follow the news or watch television, I thought we might play the following..." (Williams introducing the Mission theme).

    Now the background happenings.

For those involved in the conspiracy against me: Bravo, you got me. And you got me GOOD.

Let me just say that my sense of observation and deduction leaves much to be desired. Jeron, Aaron (or should I say Steve?), Joe(l)fromSanDiego, Brad, Mark, Frank and everyone else...ohh that was cruel. Lol. All I'll say is that I didn't realize that I was talking to Aaron Collins until like...fifteen minutes after we all met. I tell you, these guys played me better than the lead violinist in the orchestra. Lol.

That's my report people. The sound was great, the crowd good and the atmosphere as always the greatest. To meet all the ones i met, was just so incredible I'll probably will have to have professional conseling just to get off the high I am currently on.

Now off to the Sunday San Diego trip.

    Hello, everyone!

It's about 10 minutes until 2am here as I write this - given my typing speed, Lord only knows what time it will be when I finish!

I decided to file this here, as I both liked Scott (meeting him was an honest thrill) and liked what he had to say. He has given a very nice "taste" of the concert itself, so I will leave that one alone other than this: those of you who know me will realize what an epiphany it was for me to see and hear "The Indiana Jones March" LIVE IN CONCERT. Wow.

Meeting everyone was problematic. Lovely Laura and I were outside the Bowl at a quarter till three, and waited for an hour in the not-insignificant heat of the day. We finally hooked up with Brad and Joe (they recognized me). Thirsty, hungry, and wanting very much to sit down somewhere cool, we walked from the Bowl into downtown Hollywood for some casual sightseeing (comparing hand and shoe sizes with those of the stars at Mann's Chinese; cooing or laughing at the various stars in the sidewalk), and some timely eats.

Brad and I have become great friends over the 'net and telephone in the last few months; meeting him - and finding him to be every bit as warm and hilarious in person as he has been in our long-distance communications - was a very special thing, indeed. A Great Big Warm Fuzzy for the Markster, to be sure.

Joe is also very funny, and self-deprecating to a fault. His hair has changed since the time of that picture in his Member Profile here....the Android Joe thing just won't play anymore! Joe was kind enough to offer accomodations to The Lovely One and myself, and we GRATEFULLY accepted. Did you ever, as a kid, wish that you could live with all your friends in one great big house when you got older? Well, that's what is going to be happening here for a while, what with the four of us staying here & the BBQ on Sunday! Nice.

Anyway, after eating we strolled down to the cinema. Many hours left until concert time, still no word from the Moore camp (I had requested a call once everyone there was in the car & on their way to the Bowl), and new movies out, so......we saw GODZILLA 2000! Not a particularly great movie, but an entertaining one; made more so by the obviously amused and clearly partisan audience. A hoot.

After the movie (as we were strolling back up the hill towards the Bowl), I called for Jeron & found that he and Aaron were there. We arranged to meet, and did.

It was also an extreme pleasure to meet Jeron, as he and I have grown closer of late. He's just as nice as all of you might have guessed! A real sweetheart. Aaron seemed happy to be there & be seen, as well. After a few minutes of talking (and hugs - I just plain believe in 'em!), we met Scott (who also got a hug). Another VERY nice guy - he just has PLEASANT FELLOW written all over him, ya know? - who was clearly very happy to be there. More excited introductions and talking, then a sprint for the seats in order to watch the concert.

The concert itself was sublime. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the encores: although I had been practically cacaphonous for Goldsmith in Detroit, he declined any encore performances; and as that had been my first-ever film music concert, I just assumed that encores were for Rock bands! As I said, the "Indy March" was terrific; and I was moved to tears by the "E.T." suite, as well.

After the concert were more introductions (Jim and Linda, Jeron's charming (and, it must be assumed, COMPLETELY understanding!) parents; and some goodbyes as we parted.

My heartfelt thanks to my FRIENDS Brad, Joe, Jeron, Scott, and Aaron, for letting themselves be known & for being so warm to Laura and myself. I want to do this again & again over the coming years!

My apologies to JJH, who we just couldn't hook up with. Listen, man: we are going to tomorrow night's concert (and even have an extra ticket!), so CALL ME on the cell - (602) 616-7698. We'll get it done for sure.

My thoughts are with Shaun, Joan, Marian, Patrick, the other Detroit Dandies, and anyone else who would've been here if they could. Love to all of you, and I really do look forward to meeting those of you with whom I haven't yet shared that pleasure. oh, and Patrick? I got that e-mail....VERY interesting. We got so busy in this vacation that I was not able to condense my thoughts for e-reply, but we need to talk, man.

Many thanks to PeterK for building this great big warm house where I really have been able to live with my friends. I look forward to meeting you Sunday, man.

More after tomorrow's concert and Sunday's Ritual Burning And Consumption Of Flesh.

JJH, Widescreen, whoever - call & I'll move Heaven and Earth to meet ya!

I love this place; and y'all right along with it.

    *sniffle*

I really, really, REALLY wish I could have been there... and had I planned things more persistently, I probably could have.

The music would have been great, but meeting all of you, that would have been sublime...

    *louder sniffle*

Glad to hear you had a good time!!

Well, Saturdays concert line up was pretty much the same with a few differences. For the Jaws music, he played Out To Sea and the Shark Cage Fugue (is that what it's called). Anyway, and he did one extra encore for us. STAR WARS. So if the Friday nighters didn't get that, that sucks. But it was a wonderful concert.

Oh, and when he did Star Wars, lightsabers starting lighting up around the audience. It was pretty funny. I'll have to remember that for next year.

This was my first attendance to a film music concert- and it certainly won't be the last. I damn near teared up during E.T., and Sebulba, whom I unfortunately did not get to meet as I planned (the only downside to the evening), pointed out well the lightsabers that went up during the performance. I would've much preferred 'Duel of the Fates' to 'Anakin's Theme'- but for something like that, you need the choir present, as with Jurassic Park, you can't do the one of two themes without one. The program also said he has in the past conducted the Dallas Symphony. Well, when's he coming back?! In any case, the concert spelled the end of my first trip to California, man was it a blast. The highlights would've been my luck happenstance to see the Museum of Television and Radio on Beverly and Santa Monica, The Concert (of course), and Universal Studios- a rockin' theme park. Like I said- WHEN's IT COMING TO TEXAS!
