Ok, now that the circus has left town, let's get on to some business. John Williams will be at the Hollywood Bowl this Friday and Saturday conducting a program called "John Williams' Movie Memories." I haven't had a chance to get the list of pieces that will be performed (anyone have the list?), but am certain the standard fare, plus a few cool surprises, will be included. The real question I have is how many of you are going, how far are you coming from, and what are you looking forward to most in your trip?? In addition to the concert, there's lots of other fine and fun things to do in southern California!
Mr. InSanDiego, is your BBQ an open invitation for anyone who can make it down south? I am making my plans to be there!!

The Lovely Laura and myself will be there!I am most looking forward to meeting my friends: Joe, Jeron, and of course the redoubtable Brad.
The Detroit trip taught me the value of the odd phrase, "I am going to meet my friend". Meeting my friends in 3 more days is definitely the prime reason for going.I am SO looking forward to making new friends in JJH, Scott, and any others in attendance!
Peter, I believe that the BBQ is open to the film music Public. Also:
IMPORTANT NOTE!
Laura, Brad, Joe, and myself will be at the Hollywood Bowl at roughly 3pm on both Friday and Saturday. We will have a large posterboard with MM.com proudly displayed on it; and I should be easy to identify - just start countin' fingers!
We plan to meet everyone there at the Bowl, then walk over into downtown Hollywood for food & fellowship. I will post here to alert all as to where we can be found/contacted during that weekend.I can't wait, guys. My heart feels just about to burst with warmth and anticipation.

Well,I can hardly wait. I will be there and I am coming to the bbq since Jeron coned me into it. Lol.
I will be looking for all of you guys.
This will be so great.
I am looking forward to all of this. This is my sixth time at the bowl and my fifth for a John Williams concert. Yet it is the first ever where I get to meet new friends and one guy who is like a long lost brother (Jeron).

I am there on Saturday, in fact I leave for California tomorrow. It's too bad I won't get to meet most of you guys, but ask Jeron about me. I hope he'll be able to tell you all good things, I'm not quite sure of the impression I leave with people, so I try to be careful about it. In any case, I get to meet Sebulba. I have waited a long time to be able to do so.

Well, I really wish that you could be there, Marian. Maybe someday you can visit the US in conjunction wuth a tour by a composer? I will be thinking of you (and Shaun, and Joan, and Patrick, and John, and Howard, and all of the rest that I would like to meet or see) and will grab you another program.Widescreen: we will be there both days around 3pm; and I will have that posterboard......so why don't you seek us out? I would love to meet you! Besides, any friend of Jeron's, and all.......

Indeed, I hope you all have a great time.I have always been so fascinated by the fact that we can form communities online without never meeting each other. And I find it even more fascinating when members of that community GET to meet each other in the flesh. That must be a treat, especially considering that you all share that very neglected interest of film music.
Due in part to my geographical location, I have never been to a film music concert or met anyone who shares my interest outside cyberspace. I wish I could be there with ya'll at the Hollywood Bowl!
Here's hoping that my time schedule and financial situation allows for an american excursion sometime!!

Thank you, as always, for your kind words, Mark. And for the program, of course.Thor: Maybe both our situations allow us to visit America + a film music concert + our online friends at the same time sometime...

I'll be leaving NYC for California bright and early tomorrow morning. I'm staying with my elderly...oops!... I mean OLD ...heh ...friend Sherrif Joe. Truth be told, while I'm thrilled to be seeing John Williams live for the first time in my life, the concert has become almost incidental. Joe and I haven't seen each other in 7 years, and I can't wait to meet all of you guys (and gals) face to face. Much touring and hilarity to follow.

So Mark,Why do you go around 3:00? Do you get to hear them rehearse? I'll be there Saturday night probably around 6:00. We go and do the picnic thing and all. I know I'll be meeting Widescreen. There should be a common place for people to meet from Moviemusic.

I’m leaving for a few days for a seminar and want to wish all of you
West Coast Weekenders a fabulous time. So Head Honcho, PeterK
will also be there. Great. While I hope that John Williams and the
concert will be superb, I also extend my best wishes for magnificent
comradeship and the establishment of life-long friendships.
Best, Board Mom

The bbq/pool party is an open invitation to one and all and hope to see a bunch of you there!! I will be serving burgers, chips and drinks...bring your own bathing suit. It has been hot here lately and promises to continue the trend through the weekend. I was hoping to have a nice surprise for everyone, but unless I can pull off a miracle, everyone coming will have to be content with the knowledge that, some day, my film will be shown to SOMEONE...hehehe. I laugh because if I don't, I might cry...I am resigned to doing EVERYTHING on this film (aside from the acting and photography) by myself...HEAVY SIGH...Take care all and, if there IS going to be a public meeting place...by all means we should diseminate the info so we CAN all meet.
Lookin forward to it, ladies and gentlemen.

As a matter of fact, I do think Williams will be conducting music at Tanglewood on August 28th. Not sure if it's film music, though!Find more details by visiting the Boston Symphony link in the "Orchestra & Concerts" section of the MovieMusic.com Internet Directory.

Ricard, my friend, do you know what the CELEBRATION 2000 piece is? Is it his "Celebration Fanfare"? I'd be curious to know.By the way, probably the only thing that would make me more envious of you guys, would be if John Williams decided to show up at Joe's bbq vorspiel.

'Celebration 2000' is a three-movement piece which consists of selections from 'The Unfinished Journey', especially arranged for concert performance.
They are:
I - Immigration and Building
II - One Way Ticket
III - Star GazersWilliams premiered the piece during the May/June concerts with the Boston Pops.
