I have the Epic Score Lionheart, but I was wondering if it was worth getting both volumes for the 15 min or so of music not included on this version? Are there any interesting cues left off? And please don't say just because Jerry composed it I need to get it, lol. Is the missing music any good?

I guess the operative factor here is your budget. I belong to the "every single note Jerry ever composed is important" school of thinking; and in fact, I have not heard the single disc version. But looking at the cue titles, it seems to me that all the best pieces are there, and if you're not as obsessed with Mr. G as I am, then I do recommend that single disc as a fine investment and wonderful listen.

I don't know what's the Epic Score Version...Nevertheless, I highly recomend both volumes of "Lionheart".
One of Jerry's finest epic scores!

Andre (and any other people who may not know what the hell Mark is talking about), in the United States, since nobody actually ever heard of the Frankin J. Schaffner Lionheart (although many people have heard of the Jean-Claude Van-Damme movie of the same title) Varese released a single disc of music from the score, as opposed to the two discs that everyone else has access to. This disc is titled, "Jerry Goldsmith's Lionheart, the Epic Symphonic Score."Since it's considered on of Goldsmith's best scores (and some people might buy a disc because of Goldsmith's name in conjunction with the genre) I guess they figured they should definitely make it available here, but to spend the money on both discs would be ridiculous.
Regardless of how much of a completist you may be, this score also has added interest for the film score collector in that it marks the final collaboration between Schaffner and Goldsmith; not to mention the simple fact that two discs worth of material was released in the first place (Goldsmith as a general rule tries to keep his soundtrack albums modest) may hint that this score was something special.
Personally, I find it's a decent score, one I listen to on occasion, but it's not my favorite Goldsmith score. As a result, I never really bothered tracking down the two European discs. Someday, when I have money to burn, I may, but at the moment, I have bigger fish to fry...

I still don't have any confirmation that this CD exists aside from the fact that I own it...Anyway, I do have a 19 track version simply called Lionheart (it also says "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" and "Music Composed and Conducted by Jerry Goldsmith" on the front cover). It has both "Volcano Records" and "Varese" labels. From what I've found out, there's very little stuff on the 2 CD combination that's not on this single disc (2 tracks or so).
I'd say get this one, but that doesn't seem to be that easy - am I REALLY the only one who has it?

If you have the Epic Symphonic extended Varese disc but wish to have the complete LIONHEART, you need to buy Volume 2 of the two volume CD release ONLY! Volume 1 does not contain a single track that is not already on the Epic release. All the extra music is on Volume 2.

As pointed out above, there are 4 tracks or something like that, not on the Epic(last release) of it. Those cues are good. I have all three. I found Vol. 2 for 6.50 sealed in 1989, one of the first CDs I got. I did not have the first volume for years, except on LP, until five years ago. I bought the Epic score version in between. Best, John.

The cues are all from the second volume. Best, John.
