If you haven't heard or read already, the trailer is a hoax!

Yeah guys, geeesh... first off, check out the page that it's on! It's titled "Fan Films." That would be the first direct clue that it's not real. The news of this has been traveling via the internet shufflebuffers for a few days now (about a week). It looks good, but alas... it's a fake. It certainly gets me excited to see the real one, that's for sure.

    Litmus Tester,

Have you seen the trailer? I also just read about the trailer being a hoax, however, the footage is real. It's not an actual cut by Lucas, but the footage is real Episode II footage. There's no question. It has scenes absolutely from Star Wars, but not episode I. Such as Anakin and Queen Amidala kissing and hugging, the new villian, battle scenes, shots of the new characters in wardrobe. Even if it is a hoax, it's a great trailer with real footage.
However, the one clip that really got me excited IS a fake. All of the jedi's running into battle with their light sabers. If you look at it frame by frame, it's Braveheart.

Upon numerous viewings of this trailer, I am realizing that what appears to be new footage is in fact footage from other films selectively picked (quite well) and placed into this trailer. Even though it is a fake, it is definately worth looking at, and wets the appetite.

Hm, it's not nearly as good as the Ep.1 teaser, so I'm actually glad to hear that it's a hoax. But what about Gabriel Byrne and Christopher Lee? Never heard they'd play in Ep.2, but seeing them (and Christopher Walken, of course) in the fake trailer, I hope they are.

    Marian,
Christopher Lee is in the movie, he was announced around the same time as Jimmy Smits
As for the trailer I saw it Saturday and it got my juices flowing for Episode II.

ummmmmmm...yes it is a hoax, most of that footage was from Episode 1 and other films.....ie. Braveheart (Jedis running across a batllefield with cumputer animated lightsabers....only they're swords from Braveheart and men from Braveheart), Anywhere But Here (Natalie Portman hugging the topless dude and her turning around with longer hair.....) , Elizabeth (cloaked figure walking down a hall and turning with a lit lightsaber which was added in with a computer by whomever that made the teaser)...nuff' said, there's little to do with Episode II in it, but it's still nice to see.

You know, just recently a very perceptive scooper updated me with this tidbit: Apparently Natalie Portman was recently having an interview with Entertainment Weekly. At one point, the interviewer asked "Will the upcoming shoot of Star Wars interfere with your schoolwork?" to which Natalie replied: "Maybe. I hope not. I've got a lot of work to do." There has been wild speculation about what exactly she meant by this comment. Some believe that perhaps she was suggesting that the new film will contain dominant element of hope throughout the movie. Others still believe that her reference to a lot of work may possibly indicate that she will be training to have a lightsaber duel with one of the characters!

Even if the clip itself is fake, what it deals with is not. From what I read at darkhorizons.com a while back, Lucas's people were in Virginia Beach, VA (right next to me), appearantly recruiting lacrosse players to serve as extras for the final shot in the movie, where a whole army of Jedis ready their lightsabres for battle. If this comes to pass, what a way it would be to end Episode II (not very hopeful, is it Jens?)!

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. Problem is, I've got 8 CDs and 2 DVDs on order at the moment, and then I'll finally have to get all those FSM discs... Anyway, a friend is making a copy of the Bridge Over Troubled Water album for me, that should do it for now.

I would tend to imagine most of us do have a life, I do. That kinda remark would tend to **** most people off. So what if we happen to enjoy a fan trailer for the upcoming movie, what's the big deal? If you don't like it don't go see the movie when it comes out.

"Anyway, a friend is making a copy of the Bridge Over Troubled Water album for me, that should do it for now."

Marian, I'm freaking out here! NOW you're going to except a CDR of it? You must promise me that you will buy the Old Friends box set (3CDs, not too expensive), as the sound quality is VASTLY superior to the junky old Columbia releases. Seriously, the box set is comprehensive! And---if you still want a CDR of Bridge Over Troubled Water, why not get another one of their albums put on the disc as well (30 minute albums were prevalent back then, you know).

NP---Simone And Garfunkel (little-known post-Paul project from good ol' Art; songs include: "The Sounds Of Silences", "I Is A Rock", "Scarborough Fare", "Bridge Above Upset Water", etc.)

The IMDb's news section confirms that the trailer is indeed a hoax -- but also quoted Lucas as saying he was very impressed by it. Knowing him, I bet the whole thing is just one more publicity scam. I will not condescend to download the thing.

Shaun, you have yet to send me that CDR of that demo "I'm keepin' my eyes peeled for a gizzard crafted principally from brass" by Neil Young (before he changed his name back and turned the song into something a bit more marketable).

Shaun, that 3 CD set is one of the albums I'm thinking about. But it's not THAT cheap (at least at CDNow, and shipping to Europe is quite expensive, too, in particular because shipping costs for a 3 CD are the same as for 3 separate CDs). Before I found some mp3 files two days ago, I only knew the S&G stuff from their Greatest Hits album (I think that's the one), so I'm a bit reluctant to get a 3 CD set. But I'll consider it if I find it in a local store - score CDs are usually quite expensive here, but I might be able to get that set for a reasonable price. We'll see.

The footage from Braveheart, Elizabeth, Sleepy Hollow, Anywhere but Here, etc does stand out quite a lot. Still, a very professional job.

Dialogue, however, must have been too difficult to add.

I hope the real episode II trailer will have music from Episode I. It would be great.

I honestly believe "Duel of the Fates" will be in the trailer, and some variaion on that theme, as bold as it is, will get expanded.

The idea that this film could involve the Clone Wars sounds phenomenal. A lot of suspense could come from that. Not knowing who the real Jedi or Sith is from another- and if a Sith disguised himself in that capacity as a Jedi. Imagine how many noble knights could be vanquished. How sad that day will be when we see it. My personal hope is that Mace Windu went into hiding. Samuel L. Jackson and Mark Hamill appearing as voices in a TV movie version of the events following Jedi. A Jedi Knight who came out of hiding to rebuild the council and recounted better the history of the Jedi, corraborating a journal left behind by Yoda. High Concept for tv, though. Hey, I like stream of conciousness writing. You'll have to excuse me.
