I just ordered 3 CDs from Super Collector on Saturday (2 Weeks ago)and I haven't recieved any of them, and they were suposed to be her the Friday after I ordered them. This really bites! Does anyone know where I could find some place where they have next day dilivery and are on time?!

BTW, have you contacted SUPER COLLECTOR about this delay?

It's possible one of the titles is backordered and they are waiting to get it.

Have you contacted them about this problem?

BTW, it was helps to list a working email address so you can be contacted by supercollector and they can look into the mater.

Overtime, I have found SC to be prompt and
accessable. There is, at times, a feeling of
being run from a garage (maybe it is) and
other parts of their business besides CDs
gets in the way or slows things down.
So be it in the small world of special CDs.
By the way, when you do get those CDs, it
should by packed better that most outlets.

Scoreboy, give the guys @ Super Collector a break. Sometimes the postal system take LONGER than normal to get things delivered. This happened with my U-571 cds (I ordered 2). I ordered them last Monday, and they were supposed to arrive on Friday. When they did not, I called them and they sent out 2 more - and asked me to send 2 back if I ended up with 4. Interestingly enough, I received 2 the following Monday. It's just how things work, dude. Be patient. You'll get your cds.

Super Collector is awesome. Without them, we wouldn't get great releases such as Krull 2-CD, Galaxy Quest, and U-571.

    Chill out,
    Jeron

SuperCollector is a pretty nice place. I've been to his store many times down in Orange County. It's not just scores, as I'm sure many of you have seen from his site. It's very cool actually going there and seeing these scores laying there behind glass and drooling over them. Hard to decide what to get.

Are the U-571 promos hot sellers right now? I was just wondering because I ordered a copy from Intrada nearly two weeks ago and still nothing. I live in Ohio and it usually takes a few days, not a few weeks. Maybe it will show up sometime tomorrow.

    Here's hoping!

I contacted them and then they told me Stigmata was backordered. Normally, I wouldn't care about this sort of thing, but I ordered these for a friends birthday and she didn't get them in time and I felt really bad. AND I think it would be Super Collector's responsibility to contact me with information on the shipment of mine. Plus, why do they tell you they can have the CD to you in 5 days if they can't? Who cares if they have other parts of the store, they should warn you then if there might be complications and not have it say 2-5 days or whatever.

Clay, they are servicing the typical "collector," hence the name of the store. If you know you're going to need your order quicker, you should specify so. They'll ship it differently. When ordering online ANYWHERE, it's the purchaser's responsibility to ask or check as to availability. If there are stipulations involved, such as yours, needing to have it by a certain day, it's even MORE important that you relay this so they can facilitate your order. If it's not "doable," they'll let you know.

So, I wouldn't blame Super Collector entirely for this mishap. Commerce, whether it be "E-Commerce" or "Person-to-Person Commerce," is a two-way street. Take some responsibility, suck it up, and deal with it. People will respect you more for actually having the ability to do that.

Sorry to seem so harsh, I just don't think you've thought thoroughly through this. It's easy to get upset and toss the blame elsewhere.

    Jeron

PS- I just ordered 6 cds from 800.com. I didn't realize they don't keep their music on-hand, so they're having to order it from their suppliers and THEN ship it to me. Though not noted on the website at the time of order, they are now, magically, on "backorder." I probably won't see these discs for 3-4 weeks. Yeah, it sucks - but it's not the end of the world. I'll deal with it and move on. I would cancel the order, except I'm getting free shipping, and about $60 off with various coupons used... which makes the 6 discs I ordered ALMOST free!

    Jeron, I disagree.

The online store takes the responsibility here. If they don't have it, they shouldn't offer it, or wait till someone orders it (with their credit card and home info) to tell them it isn't in. Just like a regular store, if it isn't in, tough. But then, a regular store probably wouldn't advertise it anyway if it wasn't in.

It's like this online store (damn I can't remember the name--myshopnow perhaps?) that was offering CDs for 3.95 apiece. They fulfilled my first order, but then wouldn't fulfill my second order, citing overuse.

These were CDs that were not uncommon, and some still very much in print, like Fargo and Rocketeer; should've been readily available. I went round and round with them trying to get my CDs. The finally cancelled my order, after a couple weeks, and sent 1 CD of my second order of 6 (in a HUGE box), and said "tough toenails, we can't get the rest from our supplier. we're cancelling your order."

The store has a responsibility to maintain their website in a timely manner, as well as coordinate with their suppliers, and come through on orders.

    I agree with JJ here,
I only ever order from Screen Archives anymore, as Footlight takes too long (NY to PA) and STAR takes WAY too long (PA to PA!!!!! Two weeks to get to my house, which is about 3 hours away from their "home office"!). Also, I usually just call the companies on the phone, as it's easier to talk to a regular person than to deal with all these damned clickable buttons! What am I saying? I'm saying call them. Let them know you're a real person. Maybe they'll be quicker about it. Screen Archives is the most reliable seller online.

When placing an order via the internet, it's become a habit of mine to take responsibility for checking on these things. I do this simply because there's not human contact otherwise. Typically, online databases are separate and not as up-to-date as their on-hand, everyday database. This seems to be the case w/ Footlight, especially. Contacting them by phone is, obviously, the better way to place an order, simply because you CAN double-check these things as you are placing your order. The sales people normally don't mind.

Anyway...... that is, once again, my 2 cents!

It is not MY responsibility to keep track of my order. It is there's. That's why we pay, they diliver. I specified when I needed the CDs by and they didn't even tell me they didn't have them in stock, I had to e-mail them and ask them where everything is. The consumer pays the people, the people give the consumer that paid for it. I paid extra for the shipping to get it on time. And they didn't get it to me on time. I really do no see how it becomes my responsibility to keep track of the items in their store?

I think Clay has a point about responsibility. If you're paying a company good, hard-earned money for a product or a service, then you shouldn't have to hold that company's employees by the hand just to get what they promised and you paid for.

Companies--especially big companies--have some kind of deranged attitude in our consumer culture, and it's this: Give us your money, and we'll TRY to give you what you paid for. It's especially annoying in restaurants, where you get the wrong order and NO ONE so much as appologizes, or the waitress is rude and then all but holds out her hand for a tip.

Actually, e-tailers must follow FTC delivery rules. Last week, the FTC announced fines of $1,500,000 for not following the shipping rules. CDNow was fined $300,000 (reduced to $100,000 because of their poor financial condition).

The basic rule is if you can't ship within your stated shipping time, the seller must notify the customer of the delay, provide a revised shipping date, and give the customer an option to cancel with a full refund.

For more information, check out www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/intbalrt.htm.

For the record, my name is Mike Joffe. I handle the soundtrack section over at Super Collector. I received an e-mail from Clay's MOTHER last Sunday about the order that was placed through our webstore on 7/23/00. In this e-mail, she said that, according to our website, all orders are processed in 48 hours. In my reply to her, I told her that what it actually says is that MOST orders are processed in 48 hours. If we have the product in stock, the order goes right out. In the case of Stigmata, one of the titles ordered, we had sold our last copy at the San Diego Comic Convention the weekend of 3/23/00 and hadn't restocked that title yet. As we were still picking up the pieces from the show, the order was put aside until we could get Stigmata back in. Then I received the e-mail from Mary, Clay's MOTHER, berating us because the CDs were a birthday present and we didn't get them to her son on time and if we could only see the tears in young Clay's eyes... After I replied to her, I learn that Clay has been complaining on this site about our poor service. And I see that he claims that he told us that he needed the discs by a certain time and that he'd paid extra money to make sure he would get the discs on time. This is not true... We received no communication from Clay about this and we did not charge him anything at this point. At Super Collector, we don't charge the customer anything until the order is processed. And now I see that Clay has changed his story and stated that the discs were a present for someone else's birthday.
Clay also mentions that he ordered 3 discs from us. This is not accurate. He, or his mother, ordered two discs from us. Since we only had two of these discs, we charged him for one and decided to give him the other one gratis, as a birthday present from Super Collector, and we sent that out UPS, as opposed to our regular method of Priority Mail, so that Clay would get his discs sooner. But now I see him still complaining about Super Collector... Perhaps if Clay or his mother had picked up the phone and called us to let us know of the urgency of his order, we might've been able to do something about it. Super Collector has a toll-free number that is listed on our website, 1-800-99-SCI-FI. While I and Super Collector extend our apologies for any confusion over this, I sure wish Clay would get his facts straight.

Gee when I order from Footlight it gets here in about 3 days(NY to TX). Intrada may take a day or two longer depending on when you order. I've always gotten quick replies and great service from both of them. Footlight even shipped me an order once before I paid for it. They emailed me to let me know a cd I had requested earlier was finally in stock and I emailed them back to let them know I was sending a check and two days later the disc showed up. I've personally never ordered from Super Collector, but I've always received quick emails when I've had a question. Thanx for your side of the story Mike.

THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER. I PUT THE TIME LIMIT ON 3-5 DAYS OR WHATEVER IN THE HELL IT WAS! YOU DIDN'T SEND IT AND IT WOULD HAVE COST EXTRA FOR THAT! AM I WRONG?! DON'T PUT A DATE FOR DILIVERY THAT YOU CAN'T MEET! I DO NOT THINK YOU PEOPLE ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AT ALL! YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS! AND ALSO, YOU NEED TO KEEP THINGS CONFIDENTIAL! LIKE THE CRYING THING, THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! IT MAY SAY IT IN THE E-MAIL, BUT IT'S NOT TRUE. I AM 15 GOD DAMN YEARS OLD, I AM NOT GONNA CRY BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET SOME CDS FROM THEM! PLUS, I SPECIFIED WHEN I NEED THEM BY! IT DOESN'T SAY "CALL TO SPECIFY ORDER" ON YOUR MESSED UP WEB PAGE! AND ANOTHER THING, 3/23 ISN'T LAST WEEKEND LIKE YOU TOLD ME! PLUS YOU ALL NEED TO BE A LITTLE MORE PROFESSIONAL ABOUT IT!

Clay, I was holding out for you until now... but this behavior is just plain immature. Mike's response was very professional and in all actuality, should be appreciated by you. What difference is 3-4 days going to make, anyway? I've had to wait longer than that... and the music still sounded the same when it got here! Imagine that.

One other thing - I remember you posting that you were 14, not 15. And if by fact you are 15, what in the heck are you doing talking like that? Geeesh, find some new vocabulary, bud. Saying stuff like - "I AM 15 GOD DAMN YEARS OLD" isn't going to get you anywhere, here. The cursing is inappropriate and NOT appreciated on this board. And, I'll go against being "Politically Correct" and say that I personally don't appreciate your use of God's name in vain, either. Nothing justifies that kind of behavior - from anyone of any age.

If this is the Super Collecter I'm thinking of, then I can't agree with scoreboy13. I thought they were pretty prompt and reliable with my order. I've only orderded once from them, so I can't say I've had any problems, if there was I'd assume it was because it's a small store. But I wouldn't say it's bad, they were the only store (online and brick & mortor likewise) that I know of that had the CD I was looking for, the Dominic Muldowny score for 1984. I can't say a negative thing about SC, maybe you just had a stroke of bad luck (agreeing with Jeron, with the post office most likely).

I've only ordered from Super Collector once (complete KRULL!!!) The service was prompt and the packaging excellent. Mike's response fits with my experience, and was very professional considering the hasty, uninformed nature of the criticism levelled at him.

I suppose I may be wrong, and this is nothing personal, but it seems to me, Clay, that you acted upon sketchy assumptions, then overreacted when they turned out to be off-base. To top it all off, SuperCollector turned the other cheek and attempted to make compensation when they could have very well blown you off. I suggest you apologise graciously for your extreme attack (no one will hold it against you), and in the future WAIT to place orders until you have received a GUARANTEE that the services you are paying for are the services you EXPECT.

Never assume. Read the fine-print and double-check EVERYTHING that involves money, especially over the internet. Just some friendly advice from someone who's made that mistake more than once.
