post your AOL IM screen names, if you dare.
We ought to have a online chat some night to see if we can get together and do one or two of the sites in or around LA on Saturday or so. Don't know aboutyou, but it's not often I get out there.or go CD shopping or something....

I THINK I'm going ... but whether or not I do, I'd hope people would find the time to look at the new Sunset Blvd. incarnation of BERNIE'S DISCONNECTION! My alltime favorite record store in Los Angeles. It's not far from Tower now, I believe. (I wish he hadn't moved from the old place, it was way easier to park there, but I'm sure he had his reasons. At the very least, I'd like to shake his hand and see if he remembers me by my face. I bet he will: I'm the same barrel-shaped hairy-faced reprobate today that I was then. Although I'm due for a buzz cut and a debeardifictation. Word! Bernie is the coolest. This time I think I'm finally going to ask him where that anchor-looking tattoo came from. And how much it hurt, or didn't. I mean to get three tattoos myself, in the coming year.)

Mr. Rocco, it's been a while since I've been by that corner, but didn't Bernie go out of business? I was sad to see him move from the West L.A. Pico location, too. But I can only remember Bernie's shop existing across from the Virgin Megastore on Sunset for not more than a year or two after he moved there. What do you know?

I DON'T know ... I haven't been back in almost six years. I'd have to ask one of my L.A. contacts (none of whom post here, but who mentioned Bernie's move to me in the first place.) Christopher Young introduced me to the old store, and I was bothered enough that Bernie had moved (it was so much easier to park in that neighborhood! I wasn't looking forward to the nightmare of Sunset Blvd. -- look how long it takes to park at Tower, and that's for free! -- but maybe now I have nothing to look forward to at all. Damn, I hope he's still around. I can picture him having retired, though. He never seemed to be in it for the money.)

HRocco & PeterK: Last I heard, Bernie DID go out of business due to the fact that the Virgin Megastore just pretty much took all but his most loyal customers away. Had not heard he moved to Sunset, but would LOVE to go see him again and see if he remembers me as well (I always used to go in there when I lived in Culver City...damn I miss that place too!!!). Although I never met Christpoher Young while there, Bernie had MANY stories about him and how wonderful a person he is...in fact, it was Bernie who introduced me to Young's music (Godsmithian Def-Con 4, amongst others). It's nice to know others out there knew the man...(a total sweetheart of a human being too...for those who don't know...extremely soft-spoken and polite) and it just reminds me just how small this film-music world of ours is!!HUGS to all.

I guess I took Bernie so much for granted that I figured he'd ALWAYS be there -- even after he moved. This is grossly upsetting. I'd like to know where he is today. A wonderful fellow, and I REALLY thought I'd be running into him again -- change of store or not! Please don't tell me it won't be that simple!Time to phone Bob ...
