Hello everyone! I was just wondering, out of all of these CDs, which is the best/worst score to YOU?

Well I would say the Lion King is the best and Con Air is the worst. I only own The Lion King and Armageddon and the others I've only heard in their respective movies.

The only scores I like AT ALL on that list are, in descending order:BACKDRAFT (excellent)
THE LION KING (very good)
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT (pretty good)
CON AIR (good)and maybe the main title and general volcano motif from DANTE'S PEAK, but then largely just because I liked the movie, I suspect.

From BEST to WORST:
Snake Eyes (excellent)
Dante's Peak (cool)
Prince of Eygpt (weak)
Daylight (very weak)
Backdraft (schmalzy)
The Rock (plain bad)
Lion King (ultra-schmalzy)
Armageddon (terrible)
Bad Boys (terrible)
Con Air (one of the worst scores EVER)My suggestion: Skip ALL the scores on this list and get a decent Goldsmith/Poledouris/Williams/Broughton score instead!

From your list, I'll just list down the ones I own.Armageddon (Complete) Best (Current ranking in my list: 4)
The Rock (Super Terrific!! The Best!) (Current ranking in my list: 2 behind Days of Thunder)
The Lion King (good) (Current ranking in my list: 26)
Prince of Egypt (ok) (Current ranking: 34)
Bad Boys (good, could have been better if I had watched the movie!) (Current ranking: 19)
Con Air (not my cup of tea) (Current rank: 61)
Try to get your hands on the Armageddon complete promo and The Rock. They are must haves for action scores. Arguably the best from The Media Ventures gang in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie to date.

Here are the ones that I've heard:- Armageddon - Horrible, just like the movie (which I still consider the worst movie ever made)
- The Rock - Horrible, just like the movie
- The Lion King - Good, although there's a "Horner effect": A good deal was in fact written by Mozart; I love what Zimmer made of Elton John's mediocre songs, and that's high praise, because I dislike most movie songs
- Con Air - Horrible, just like the movie
- (Bad Boys - after the 3 Bruckheimer movies above, I really didn't feel the need to watch this one
)

I enjoy hearing all these different view points. And now I relize most people don't like Bruckhiemer movies/scores. Why?

I'm just wondering why we're limited to these few CDs.My pick of this limited list is Prince of Egypt. No, it's nothing groundbreaking, but certainly enjoyable on its own terms.

Yes, Prince of Egypt is o.k., but I have to say I agree with Marian's post entirely, Armagodforsaken is just about one of the worst film and score I ever heard (and I had the misfortune to listen to this more than once, due to a friend of mine who has it, and likes it!),same goes for the Rock, which is nothing more (to me,at least?!) than a tedious cauldron of notes!Quite a few people here seem to rate these scores, so tell me.....Am I missing something?!
NP : Alive - JNH...damn fine score it is too!

ok peoples, lets go a little easy. I happen to like Armageddon and The Rock. In fact, Armageddon is my favorite score ever. As for the list, no reason for being limited.

Actually Armageddon is one of my guilty pleasures. If you want to talk about a very bad score try Goldeneye.

Well, WIll, you are the first person that has loved the Goldeneye score, I personally have never heard it. but I have a feeling I'd like it because I like different remixes of things.

wonderful list
I hate Con Air this is the kind of trash you´ve got to listen to if you watch MI2, what the hell did Zimmer do to the fabulous MI-theme??? And why is almost everybody enthusiastic about this guy? Snake Eyes is a pretty weak Sakamoto-score but still beats the others...

I think everyone needs to cool down a bit. I agree, the theme to M:I-2, well, it's one of the worst things that Zimmer has done. HOWEVER, it fits the film. As for the others, they fit the film very well also! And quit dissing all the people at media ventures!Clay G.

On a whole, I really like the M:I 2 score, and while I'm not overly imporessed about the electric guitar rendition of the M:I theme, the latin guitar themes, and Lisa Gerard's vocals IMHO are excellent.

Why do you people all seem to hate "The Rock" so much? I happen to hold it as one of my all-time favorite scores. it's awesome. It's stupendous. And the movie wasn't all that bad (Except for that lousy "Rocketman" line towards the end). It was a typical silly action flick, and one that I enjoyed.
The music, however was pure masterpiece. I bought the soundtrack within a week of seeing the film.
So there you have it. To all that hate "the Rock", Poo to you!

Strange thing about GOLDENEYE, and this doesn't happen too often with me: I watched the movie and thought the score was thoroughly inappropriate for the movie, BUT, I also recognized I'd probably enjoy it as an album, so once I found it for cheap enough, I bought it. I was right. A peculiar dichotomy.NP: THE HAUNTING (ponytail boy)

One of the best and most entertainig scores I've ever heard is "The Rock". I also like "Con Air" or "Daylight" (very dramatic). But I don't like "Snake Eyes" very much. As for "Goldeneye", I like a few tracks on the CD but not all of them.

I don't know what you guys are wacthing but i think that Jerry Bruckhiemer is the best action genere movie producer and he picks the composers that would best eluminate the movie, and i relieze that many of you "classical" score people only like the "classical" type of scores and that is what is so good about the scores in Bruckhiemer's films is that it defines a new age of movie scores which gives a great variety to movie scores.
