Does anyone know if the TV mini series score to "Centennial" has ever been released? The series was filmed in the late seventies, I believe.

Unless there was a bootleg, I kind of think not. Perhaps John Addison's theme was collected someplace. I believe that was the longest miniseries ever produced for American television up till that time. Addison hadn't even intended to score the whole thing, but partway through he caved in and decided to finish it.

Thank you for your response to my post. Yes,
"Centennial" is a very long series and I can imagine that it was quite an undertaking for Addison to score it.

Sharol, this Addison score for that great mini-series has never been released. Long ago I asked Tony Thomas about it. He said at the time there were no tapes to make recordings from. He said that about lots of others that have been released from tapes since though. 1978-1979. I have them all on tape, watched most of them when first shown and watched a marathon of them in 1980 while at Ft. Riley on cable. Great stuff. Good music. Best, John.

The mention of this series brought back many
a memory. My wife still laughs when she hears
Robert Conrad talk. His acting was almost
campy seeing it today. I don,t remember the
music but I,m sure I would know the theme if
    I heard it.

The four main themes I remember from the mini-series are l. Main title 2. Farewell and end title music 3. action/fighting music 4. theme associated with Gregory Harrison's character in the film. All four are good. Best, John.

Thank you John, for the imformation you posted on this score. There are some nice themes throughout and it is too bad they could not have been recorded for release.

Logied, I had to laugh when I read your post. Robert Conrad and his accent as Pasquinel does take one back a bit! Ha!

"Centennial" is one of my favorite mini-series. It is one of the best of James A Michner's stories ever filmed in my opinion. His books are so in depth that it takes a lot of film to do them justice.
