okay, Sussmayr might not have "pillaged" per se, but he was NO Mozart.

Here's the CD I was talking about:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000003D1D/o/qid%3D963538962/104-9903937-6369550

Damn it's be nice if we had a way to use the img code, but oh well.

An unexpected windfall sent me scurrying to the Used bins at Footlights and the various stores on St. Mark's (I never buy an album new if I can help it.) This is what I turned up:

X-MEN (Michael Kamen) (40 minutes, but still too short! No wonder people are prejudiced against this score, the album doesn't give it enough room to breathe -- it's far more subtle and ambitious in the movie)

    BATTLEFIELD EARTH (Elia Cmiral)

    IN TOO DEEP (Christopher Young)

    THE HAUNTING (Jerry Goldsmith)

THE COMPANY OF WOLVES (George Fenton) (surprised the hell out of me to find this in a Used bin! I've wanted it for more than fifteen years! Thing is, it's probably so cheap because it's a reissue that somebody didn't want -- has © 2000 all over it.)

    NP: BATTLEFIELD EARTH

Heck, I want both it and Twilight Zone: The Movie. Unfortunately, counting what else is
coming out at that time, and how much they both will cost. I might have to skip one or the other. And at this moment TZ:TM is the priority. Well, that and saving money for an DVD player.

Just be aware that HAVING a DVD player makes you spend even more money, on DVDs. I got a player 2 months ago I think, and by now I have 15 DVDs, each approximately $20. Frightening.

I had another trip to the supermarket. You know how it is, you're bored with the contents of your shopping trolley, so you pick up any old rubbish from the sale bins if they're cheap enough:

I got The Last Emperor (Ryuichi Sakamoto mostly), and The Untouchables (Ennio Morricone).

They're by no means rubbish, but I'm going to stop that habit and only buy things I really want from now on...that is, until my next trip to THE SUPER!!!

Mr. Abbey, UNDER FIRE is a PHENOMENALLY great and important album. TWILIGHT ZONE is excellent as well. I don't see what ELSE is coming out around the same time that would make you pick and choose between those two particularly indispensable scores ... (but if I had to pick only one of the two, I'd go for UNDER FIRE. But how much else is coming out anytime soon that's more important????)

NP: WARLOCK (Jerry Goldsmith) (of course I'd recommend this one too, but I never pretended I wasn't addicted)
