A week ago, I bought the new score from Elliot Goldenthal: "TITUS". It is so genius.
Number 1 on the CD "Victorius Titus" is breathtaking. I listened to it for ten seconds and I knew I would buy this CD.
What do you all think about Goldenthal's work? I like all of it very much. My favourites are "Titus", "Sphere", "Batman Forever" and "Michael Collins".

Sphere is great. I can't wait till Titus is released somewhere near me so I can see it. The Goldenthal score I really like is Alien3. I thought it was really well orchestrated and was an excellent complement to a very underrated movie no matter what Scott and Matt say.

Any thoughts on his Othello ballet? I saw it in the store and was wondering how it was.

This thread is looking terribly lonely. I'm sure more people have an opinion about Goldenthal, but they all go to the "General Topics" category. Maybe there should just be one category.

What can I say about Goldenthal? I've only got Alien 3 and Interview With The Vampire, but I'd say that if you've got the attention span, put your headphones on and disconnect for a time. He's not easy listening, but who wants James Last anyway?

As you can see, I really haven't formed any opinions about this composer yet. Just thought the thread looked sad.

    Graham:
I have Interview and I noticed something about the last track. It's a cover of a great Stones song and the arrangement is good. But, is it just me, or does Axel Rose taint everything he touches with his irritating "voice"?

Note: Ordinarily I would never say something that mean about anyone, but I really like that song so it kind of gets to me, you know?

    J. Peter: If you should see the OTHELLO-CD again, don't hesitate and buy it. I think it's great. I love every minute of the more than 70minutes-CD. The music seems to be somewhere between Batman Forever and Prokofiew's Romeo And Juliet... It's wonderful...

    J. Peter,

Axel has no doubt invested the old Stones classic with his own unique vocal style. Whether or not it's "annoying" is, like everything, a matter of taste.

However, even if Guns n' Roses were my favourite rock band and Sympathy For The Devil my favourite song, I'd still say that its inclusion in Interview With The Vampire was an absolute abomination. Can anyone justify that from an artistic point of view?

Maybe someone can change my mind about it. I don't LIKE being a stuffy old purist!
