Did you know, that Howard also did the score to "Space Jam"? Nobody mentioned it before. It's absolutely fabulous. The Mix of Orchestral-Comic-Music, Synthesizer-Drums and E-Guitars is just perfect. I love this Score.
I also like "Snow falling on Cedars". It's very powerful music.
But my favourites are "Waterworld" and of course "The Fugitive".
I'm looking forward to every new score Howard does.

I love Space Jam, reminds my a lot of Silvestri's Roger Rabbit score. I have been meaning to check this score out in the context of the movie, but I don't think I can watch Michael Jordan for more than ten minutes.Audacity

Hey, guys, it's good to see that I'm not alone. I think that SPACE JAM has a fine score. On the album, listen closely in track #5, "Charles" for a bit of blues piano bearing more than a passing resemblance to Randy Newman.More to come

What about some other forgotten scores?Does anybody know WESTWORLD or FUTUREWORLD by Fred Karlin?
Or KILLING CARS by Todd canedy?I know there have been releases on vinyl - but no CDs. KILLING CARS I own, but does anybody have WESTWORLD? Do you like it? Do you think it should be re-released on CD?

Anna and the King by Fenton. Good thing Jeron brought up the issue. It's a beautiful score I must say.

I just heard that the Special Edition DVD of Space Jam will have isolated score. I am not sure how much, if any, was left off the OST but it is cool to finally have an isolated score by the greatest, Mr. Howard.Audacity

Floyd, Fred Karlin has a lot of interesting scores under his belt. I haven't got either of the scores you mentioned (is there one for Futureworld?), but, certainly, Westworld was a great film from my youthful days. I saw the LP years ago in a shop, but I didn't remember much dramatic underscore in the film itself, , so I didn't buy it. Maybe that was wrong. Is there a lot of bar-room stuff on it?

Graham, unfortunately I don't have the WESTWORLD score. I found it years ago in a shop selling second hand vinyls, and the lp was in a very bad condition but the guy wanted about 40$ for it, so I thought he should keep it...
I am not sure what you mean by bar room music, but if you mean that kind of jazzy music usually played in bars, then the answer is no. As far as I can remember the music had a touch of electronics and a futuristic feel, no harmonies but science fiction-like soundscapes... It is some years ago that I saw the film but the fact that I can (somehow) remember the music means that it must have been interesting... :-))
Actually I have never got a score composed by Karlin, can you name a few titles that are still available...?Thanks,

Floyd, I can't think of anything offhand by Fred Karlin that might be available, except for a pair of CDs from a few years ago in which he and a small group of musicians performed their own take on jazz themes from films. I think these are called "Jazz Goes To The Movies".His output for TV is vast, but very little seems to have been released, though I do remember hearing that his score to the TV movie "Vampire" is out. I think it shares a CD with one or two of his other TV scores.
One of many talented composers who remains under-represented on disc. However, he's a highly respected academic, it seems.
