Eidelman is known for his conducting jobs, but has also composed many fine movie scores. Of his filmography, music from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Christopher Columbus and his unused score for Picture Bride are among my favorites. Anyone else follow Eidelman's original scoring?
Christopher Colombus: The Discovery is, IMHO, head and shoulders above everything else Eidelman has done. The theme is just great, although the orchestra isnt very powerful. I would LOVE to hear this score reperformed by the LSO.
I haven't been to impressed with his work for the most part.I thought "Star Trek VI" was ok.But I was impressed with his conducting job on the "Alien Trilogy" cd.
I just love that male choir chantting on Rura Pente. It is so frighting. I found the fact that Eidelman used a lot of Asian instruments and some much choral quite intresting. I have eight of the nine Star Trek movie scores (I haven't got the new Star Trek: The Motion Picture- They should have left off that second disc!)I think that it is one of the top Star Trek scores. I really could't name any other Eidelman scores. I think that he scored one of the Free Willy movies.
Yes,Eidelman is quite good though I prefer his early 90´s output to his current trend of scoring those female bonding films like Now and then. I think his best score may be Triumph of the Spirit,it´s got some great choral stuff in it
I myself I love his score to "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country I think it is one of his best ones. It is one of the better "Star Trek" movie scores out there.
I remember hearing his score to METEOR MAN and really liking it. STAR TREK 6: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY is my favourite of his scores. I think he deserves meatier scores.
