I`ve been interested in Jones` music since his great score for Last of the Mohicans. He seemed to have a bit of a slump in the mid 90`s but since then he`s been back with a vengeance. Even though he often repeats himself his scores have immense individual value since almost every score is different from anything else. He seems to be the only one of the `new` composers that has composed in every genre with great results.
    My favorite Jones scores are:
Merlin, GI Jane, Dark City, LAst of the Mohicans
How does Dark Crystal compare with these?

I wrote a review about the Dark Crystal on the old message board at "Movietunes.com". If its still there just scroll down the page and you'll find the info. Its the only Trevor Jones score I have but its a gem. Apparently its difficult to get but you can get it on a CD with "The Wicked Lady".The music has a lovely melodic theme running through it and has some great mystical dramatic music and celebratory music similar in idea to the "Ewoks" in Jedi. Incidentally there are similarites in the score to some of Jedi and both scores were recorded within a year of each other by the LSO. If you can find it I'd recommend it totally! Gae

The Mighty is a pleasant surprise, with 1 lift from Secret Garden - Sigma (Songs from the secret garden).

Gae, you said "The Dark Crystal" was available with the "Wicked Lady". Can you tell us where? I would love to get it. Thanks.

Just wondering what you guys think of Gulliver's Travels? I really like this score, it sounds like an early version of Merlin, which is in my top five all-time favorite scores. I don't hear people talk about it much, possibly because it is a score to a TV movie not a big blockbuster. I am just curious if Trevor Jones fans like this score or not.

Also, is the score to Kiss of Death hard to find? Somehow I have two copies of this CD, don't ask me how it happened. If it is hard to find, anyone that would be interested in my extra copy of it just let me know. Even if its not hard to find, if someone needs it just let me know.

I first noticed Trevor Jones while watching the opening credits to Cliffhanger. I thought (and still do) that his main theme is extremely similair to Horner's Rocketeer. I didn't like Jones one bit for this plagiarism (mainly because Jones got away with the plagiarism, while Horner is often bashed for it).
The movie Dark City truly impressed me and this was partly due to the music by ...damn it.. Jones.
I bought Dark City and Merlin and enjoyed both of them, though again I think Merlin has some Horner-esque moments. I just recently purchased The Mighty and enjoyed it very much, though yet again it reminds me of Horner (do I have to explain that Horner is my favourit composer?).
So in the end I have to admit that I actually like Jones' music, even though I have been very reluctant to.
And as for the Cliffhanger theme, isn't it great?

Gullliver`s travels is a great score and yes it tends to get overlooked for some reason. For all the fans of Merlin I wholeheartedly recommend picking this cd up.
A great theme and it`s long too (about 77 minutes)
I think the Cliffhanger theme sounds a bit like an major chord version of his thme from the Last of the Mohicans
I think JOnes has a very distinct style( especially in the action music) and i am normally able to recognise his scores ( though sometimes he does surprise me)
    NP- Gulliver`s travels
