I'm fairly new to the score scene, so most of my picks are from recent movies. - Hummell Gets the Rockets from The Rock - Evacuation and Burn Around the Moon from Armageddon - The Chase from The Peacemaker - Come in 007, Your Time is Up from TWINE There are many others, it would be useless to list them all. Those are just the ones off the top of my head. NP: Deep Blue Sea

John (ad others),Yes, Jerry Goldsmith does seem to be king when scoring action. Although he has, on occasion, just let the ostinatos gallop on without really doing much with them, the best of them are magnificent examples of how to go beyond mere generic "action music." There are tons of examples, but the ones that come to mind are: Planet Of The Apes ("No Escape") Papillon ("Antonio's Death") The Cassandra Crossing ("Break-In", I think, if that's the hospital chase at the beginning of the film, which is splendidly shot and scored: a real ballet of violence!)

Total Recall by Jerry Goldsmith. This is one of the best almost pure action scores I have ever heard. I would take any action cue from this and use it, but I think my favorite is Schitzoid Emblism. I have an expanded bootleg and this is where Quaid flashes back to his Mars days during his Rekall implantation trip. One other favorite action cue is the actually three, I think. It's the first three in Masters of vthe Universe By Bill Conti. These are the cues that are during the opening credits and the fight scenes before He-Man and friends wind up on earth.
