I am new here, and this most likely has been asked before; but if you could only pick one favorite score, which would it be? ONLY ONE, no honorable mentions, no number two's, no two number ones, JUST ONE!

When I asked this question, I didn't include my own choice of ONE, because I found it far too difficult to choose. I've been given it some thought, and I suppose my overall favorite score (that I just couldn't go without hearing again), is Pino Donaggio's "Dressed To Kill". There, I've done it.

I'd have to go with KAZAAM by Christopher Tyng. As the epochal piece of music it is, not only is it superior to all other film scores (or music of any kind), but it is probably the summit of human achievement in art.

    I refuse.
This topic is too much like being in hell.

Well...I guess as bad as hell is, it would be just a little bit more tolerable if I could listen to "The Blue Max".

However, I'm not planning on going there. They don't have electricity.

Hm, I'm a bit confused. Williams is my favourite composer, and normally I would have chosen a Williams score for my answer (though it would be hard to pick a single one). But at the moment, my absolute favourite score is Patrick Doyle's "Much Ado About Nothing". Fantastic on CD, fantastic in the movie (just watch the Overture/Main Title sequence for some perfect film score spotting and pacing).

You and I may have a lot in common, Leopoldskron. First of all, my one choice would be Pino Donnagio's "Dressed To Kill", as well. Also, what significance is your UserName? I know of the Leopoldskron Palace, in Salzburg, Austria. In fact, I was just there.

Leopoldskron: I love it that you limit this thing to only ONE score. I hate it when these posts flow out to become uninteresting diatribes of long lists not saying much.

My pick would have to be RETURN OF JEDI (Williams) out of nostalgia and identification.

John, you have great taste. "Dressed To Kill", is so underrated. It is truly a masterpiece. My screen name, is in fact from the palace you've mentioned. I worked there for a year, during my studies abroad. Salzburg is a beautiful town. I would love to go back.

Thor, it is difficult to select one, and it is far more interesting to read one selection, than an endless list of favorites.

This is an easy one: "The Sound of Music."

No, just kidding. It's still an easy one: I'd pick "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Without a doubt, my all-time favorite score, especially as represented in the 1995 reissue.
