It may just be me, but I like TV and video game scores as well as movie scores.

My favourite video game scores are Diddy Kong Racing, Zelda: Link to the Past, and my favourite video game score is:
Mystical Ninja starring Goemon (or Ganbare Goemon 5).
I just love that score, and the soundtrack is nice and long.

My favourite TV scores (ya they're all cartoons, but who cares?) are Pokemon (sorry anti-pokefans, but the backround music is too catchy not to like), Teddy Ruxpin (yes the songs are brutal, but the backround music is so cool), the Super Mario Brothers super show and Zelda cartoon (oh ya), and finally the coolest TV score:
Duck Tales. It has the most catchy, groovin', and adventerous score that I have always loved (the show's good too). If they had a Duck Tales series score CD I would buy it in a second.

Well, that is my favourite "odd" scores if you wanna call them that, but I think they are very cool, or is it just me?

    For video games, I'd say:
    Metal Gear Solid
    Time Crisis
    Legend of Zelda
    Super Mario Brothers
    Castlevania II

    For TV: Robotech! Robotech!! Robotech!!!

For videogames, I have 2 favorites:

    Xenogears
    Metal Gear Solid.

For TV themes, my favorite has always been Amazing Stories.

I don't play a lot of games, but I love "Heroes of Might and Magic II" (I don't have III yet), and I like the music for it. It's kind of renaissance-fantasy type music that's pretty good.

    Mechwarrior ][ (Computer mech-sim game)
It contains a great score... heavy, pounding, dark, moody tracks that fits in perfectly with the game's scenery (giant robots [mechs] on alien terrain).

Another good one is from the game, "Unreal".

As for cartoon scores, see "Batman: The Animated Series", which aired from 1992 to present. Also, another good cartoon score would be the one for "Gargoyles".

TV scores... Mark Snow composes absolutely beautiful music for the shows, "Millenium" and "The X Files".

(replying to Cenzo's Poke'mon comment) Hmmm, in our japanese language class, there was always a kid who blurted out, "Gotta catch 'em balls!" in our class (apparently it was from the Poke'mon cartoon theme song).

NP - I'm just listening to a radio talk show...

PS. a friend of mine is looking for a CD called the "Actraiser Symphonic Suite"... it's a video game soundtrack that's out of print, unfortunately. If you know ANYTHING about the soundtrack or where to get it, you can post a reply, contact my friend at solarknightorion@netscape.net, or contact me at seanb20000@mediaone.net

I recently ripped all of the music from TEKKEN 3 for Playstation onto CD. It is some pretty cool techno-ish type music.

Even though I already listed my favourite video game music, some other cool music is from the game Bust A Groove (Move), but those are all songs. I only mentioned them because they are so groovin'(how apporpriate to the title ).

Also, "Chrono Trigger". Very good when you consider that it's Super Nintendo score.

All I can remember was that synthesized Castlevania IV score for Super Nintendo. Now it sounds crappy, but back then it was sweet music to my ears. Also, the earlier Nintendo Ninja Gaiden music was great!

Come to think of it...Anything Yuzo Koshiro (I hope I'm not confusing the name with some martial artist, but I think I have it right, don't I?) did back in the early 90's for the Genesis games (Revenge of Shinobi I-III, Streets of Rage I-III, and Adventure Island for the SNES)

I thought Johnny Bazookatone had some neat tunes as well.

Oh yeah, and Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES).

Most recently (well, not so recently), Tekken 2 and Killer Instinct has some great soundtracks...

    - A.

I think the Castlevania series has always had really good music, even back in the NES days.

As many as I have heard, I still love the music from the Ecco games on Sega CD the best of all video game soundtracks. There's some sort of mystery to it that I can't seem to grasp... and I think that's partly why I like it so much. I really hope Spencer Nilsen comes back to compose for the Dreamcast version.
