If you're stuck on an island and you had two scores/soundtracks, what would they be? (I know, it's corny, but I want to know.) My two would be "The Rock" and "Out of Sight". The second isn't the traditional kind of score, but it has some really funky grooves.

Great question but TOUGH! I guess I'd say "Star Wars (New Hope)" and my Phoenix Symphony recording of "Magnificent Seven."

Wow, only two. Would they have to be on LP? The reason I ask is because I could believe that The Professor could make a record player but I think the laser part would give him to much trouble if he tried to build a CD player.

Seriously though, they would have to be WATERWORLD and Merlin.

Or maybe my second would by the soundtrack to SWINGERS so me and Mary Ann could swing-dance to it.

Very tough choice, I guess I would take:

    Merlin - Trevor Jones
    Dragonheart - Randy Edelman
    Lionheart - Jerry Goldsmith

    I know, I know,,,I can't count.

NP - Heaven and Earth, Kitaro

Actually I'd skip the Professor and make sure MacGyver was on the boat. That way you'd have a multi-disc CD changer.

I'd probably have to choose ET and Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

    NP - (?)

I don't think it was a corny question at all Ben. If I could only choose two they would have to be Empire of the Sun, and Dangerous Beauty.

I wasn't really going for the Gilligan's theme (I was thinking the generic-type) but if you want to change it up: happy island -"Out of Sight" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas (good for any time of the year)
generic island-"Out of Sight" and "The Rock"
Lord of the Flies island-"The Rock" and "Mission:Impossible"

Wow. There are some really varied selections here. It's good to see.

Brue: Good one. I totally forgot about "The Mission." That's a great score.

Wait a minute Kyle. You're stuck on an island (the original question) and you're bringing "Omen" and "Psycho?"

That just screams for a murder scene around the campfire on the beach.

The Omen and Psycho might be OK for the "Lord Of The Flies" island.

Hmmm. I never realized that the question asked if you were stuck on an island (just kidding, although I am a fan of The Lord of the Flies). Actually, to tell you the truth I don't really have two favorite scores, they are all very good. I buy a lot of scores but only after I have heard some of it. One of the best I have bought from recent years is The Usual Suspects. About every track on that CD has a new theme that is pretty original. Ottoman has a lot of energy and spark that a lot of composers are running out of today.

My favorites are best without their respective films:
Dragonslayer by Alex North -- the most vivid and sophisticated orchestral music written for a film (and a pretty awful film at that).
Jane Eyre by John Williams -- perhaps the most beautiful music written for a film.

My God, why does it always have to be just two???!!!

I honestly can't narrow it down to just two. My choices would be between Superman, The Star Wars Saga, and the Mask of Zorro.
