The EMI disc is available in the U.S., but it seems only in certain stores. The stores here in Boston (Borders, Tower Records, HMV) have been carrying it. It's part of EMI's British Composers series, nearly all the entries of which are at mid-price here in Boston. This particular Walton disc is pretty good, although the Olivier narration seemed a little flatter than Gielgud's on the Chandos disc. The Chandos disc, whatever you might think of the Palmer arrangements, at least has the greatest amount of music from the film included (even some source music suites).
The other three Walton filmusic discs from Chandos are also very good, but they're all similarly arranged by Palmer, and the Hamlet and Richard III discs also have narration.

Lou, the reason I tried to make peace was because I couldn't really pick a side. I love both scores.Trust me, I love a good fight, you know that (although I don't like a bad fight, i.e. any with Daniel 2). I was just... conflicted.
This is turning into a mighty fine discography, however. I am very interested in picking up the EMI release Guenther mentioned. I guess I'll go through the link (sorry Peter).

Yeah, I know, but even a bloodthirsty pirate such as myself has to choose his battles...

Well, it came in the mail!!Thank you Guenther, I've been wanting this on CD forever. And yes, indeed a plus to this CD is having cues from Henry V recorded in the 40s (whether originals or re-recorded for the Olivier narration, it's awesome). The Scenes From H5 suite has a few cues without narration and it's nice to hear LO too.
Comparing Walton's version of the Battle cue in the Scenes suite with the later version: I like the inclusion of the tamborine (or the fact that it's more audible, but I miss the Harpsichord)
In any case, with the Richard III overture and suite, the H5 suite, Spitfire P & F, all conducted by Walton PLUS the Scenes suite, this is simply A MUST HAVE DESERT ISLAND CD.
