2nd to Morricone's marvellous Mission to Mars, Mr. Jarre's 36 minutes of faux Mozartian magic and the usual elliptical Jarrisms is the certain cure for those who would like to purge their memories of the CMS morass currently plaguing theaters near you. Here's a fellow who is, what...80 something, and who possesses no difficulty touching your emotions with a simple, poignant theme and variations, dressed to the nines in good, old-fashioned orchestratral bow tie and tux. He makes it seem so easy....

i purchased sunshine a week or so ago and i cant get enough of it. i listen to it constantly along with Up at the Villa. (well until last night when i got the patriot...which i havent stopped listening to yet)
    Anyway....
Sunshine is a marvelously rich classical score that is beautifully composed. The orchestrations are magnificent and the music moves along with strong soul. It is unpredictable in its movement without being disconcerting in its classicism. I highly suggest that anyone with a penchant for classical sounding music give this score a try - and any of you who are alleged "CMS" champions take a look at this and get a taste of something new....which is actually something old (wait...isnt retro "in" now?)

Hey, you guys have given me something to check out now.

Must be some kind of resurgence for Maurice Jarre's career.

gosh, I love his Jacobs' Ladder score, though it is prmarily electronic.

I heard some glowing remarks about this score and listened to a great soundclip on the site, but unfortunately, I searched for this album in a few stores and could not find it. If I do spot it, I will pick it up.

I'll second the Mission to Mars mention! The "Where?" cue (the glorious part) is my favorite composition so far this year- and one of my favorites of the decade.

NP: Beltrami's "Crow: Salvation" --this one ends up in your cd player more than you'd think
