Hey all again,
My 2nd post of the night is a question. My dad asked me to build a 4th of July CD mix. I plan to have cues from "Saving Private Ryan", "Glory", "The Pariot",
"Gettysburg", and "Medal of Honor." I am also thinking of adding "Rules of Engagement" and "The Thin Red Line." Does anyone else have other idea for the CD?Thanks,

Well, my local news station plays Air Force One when they show they coverage of fireworks shows from around the area, so I would suggest that. The Postman would also be a good choice.

Obvious choice! How could I've missed it!Kyp - Since you appear to be going for war movie scores, George S. Clinton's excellant score for Platoon Leader has a really heroic theme that would fit right in with your compilation. (Course, the CD isn't readily available. I've never seen it in any stores; I had to order it from Amazon.)

And, of course, INDEPENDENCE DAY! I'd suggest the End Titles.

Get yourself a copy of John Williams and the Boston Pops' "By Request"...all the firework music you'll ever need.

Kyp,I second Lancelot's advice. That cd has an especially fitting piece called "Liberty fanfare and theme." Awesome piece.

Ah, the Liberty Fanfare! I only have a horribly played version of it. Aren't all those old Williams/Philips albums out of print?NP: Captain Blood - Classic Film Scores for Errol Flynn ("The Sea Hawk")

Don't forget Gettysburg by Randy Edleman..and finish it off with the 1812 overture...preferably Erich Kunzel's version with live cannons

A couple of suggestions:The Silva compilation: "Hollywood Goes to War"--pretty good 2-disc set.
The Boston Pops disc "A Splash of Pops" is their perennial 4th of July selection as is "American Visions" both with Lockhart.
"Victory at Sea" could be popped in there (you could get either of the 2 low proce reissues, or a Kunzel/Cincinnati compilation).
Hermann: Hymn to the Fallen
Barber: Adagio for StringsI just stuck a bunch of discs in the rotation for the weekend with a "Americana" flavor. Have fun.
