Hey all,
I was watching this movie today again and was I was thinking how fun it would be to edit the sequel (coming soon)I heard the score again. I know there is a score CD out, how is it? Does it have a lot of the theme tracks or more of the "Smith" theme?--Kyp

It's excellent. Just make sure that you pick up the expanded release from Intrada and not the TVT release with all those unlistenable rock songs.

My prerequisite for seeing will have to be that Heather Graham will have to take it all off.Since it'll probably PG13 and not R or X, there's no chance of that happening.
oh darn. can't see the movie. too bad so sad.

Hahaha...I can just see it now: An X-Rated sequel to "Lost in Space" starring Heather Graham."Lost in Space II: The Black Hole"
But who would compose it??

NP: Murder in the First 5/5 (How I long for an expanded re-recording of this score, played by the London Symphony Orchestra, with the London voices for the choral portions. It would be pure bliss!!)

"Lost in Space II: The Black Hole"
from Full Moon Entertainment
Produced by Charles Band
Directed by Ted Nicholau
Heather Graham is sucked into this trash of a sequel because of a contractual agreement. Jeffrey Combs co-stars. Richard Band provides a thrilling orchestral/synthetic score, the only saving grace in yet another abhorrent direct-to-video production from infamous Full Moon Pictures.James

Though I understand why a lot of folks didn't enjoy the movie, I found it quite entertaining. I for one am looking forward to the sequel, if only to hear another magnificent score from Bruce Broughton, whom I'd hope would be returning. As far as I know, he doesn't have a problem with sequels.Kyp, get the Intrada score release... it's awesome. The "various" album DOES include a couple different score edits than the "score" album, so I'd recommend keeping both.

I've heard zero buss about a sequel. In fact this movie was New Line Cinema's most expensive production to date and it is only now, two years later, approaching what might be called a profit. The 85 million dollar movie made barely 60 million dollars domestically and didn't pack em in overseas.New Line desperately wanted a franchise like Fox's Star Wars and Paramount's Star Trek and they were hoping LOS would be it. That's why the ending has sequel written all over it but the studio has to feel that there is an audience for a sequel. The box office speaks for itself.
Nevertheless the score by Bruce Broughton is a treasure.

Really good score. Where's Wedge? He used to rave about the album.NP: Captain Blood - Classic Film Scores for Errol Flynn ("The Adventures of Robin Hood"; now, why isn't there a DVD for this movie!?)

JEFF BOND SAID: "If Broughton is guilty of anything, it's in doing something that Jerry Goldsmith often seemed to be doing in the 70s---namely, scoring the best possible version of the movie instead of the one that actually got made."

I hardly noticed the score during the film. The sound in the theater was really bad with the SOUND EFFECTS drowning everything else out. Also I was too busy thinking "why the hell am I watching this stinkburger?"Still, after reading a glowing review in FSM, I gambled and picked up the Intrada disc and it was just terrific! I was looking forward to hearing Goldsmith's take on the film, but I think that it was good thing that he couldn't do it, because Broughton did a superb job.

From the director's commentary track on the Lost In Space DVD, the ideas for the sequel sound pretty good, and, if done decently, should turn out to be more entertaining popcorn fare.NP: Goldsmith's "Papillon"

Actually, I wouldn't mind a sequel to this movie. It was adequately entertaining, nothing I'd watch again but I was not disappointed I rented it. A good "turn-your-brain-off" romp. Just keep Akiva Goldsman away from the sequel and it should be fine. Then again, I'm still waiting for that sequel to The Last Starfighter, a movie that genuinely deserved a follow-up.

The Last Starfighter sequel?
Oh, YES!But it won't be the same without the same Centauri. Then again, if Craig Safan comes out of the woodwork to bring back his spectacular themes, i'm there.
